I'm painting my side moldings off my 2000 ls this weekend and I'm wondering who here has done it (taken them off that is). Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to get them off. I have never taken them off so I'm doing this blind. I was going to order some of the clips that hold it on, anyone know the part # or $$ of the clips.
Any help on how many clips there are, any screws, does it slip off or do you unclip them off, basically any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Beefy

Yea, I always thought that the newer LS tegs came with the door molding painted.

They do, but I'm still not sure which one he's talking about. I have seen people paint the door molding a different color from the car.

HA HA. My fault, the side moldings. I've already got the side skirts off. My car is silver and they are both (side skirts and door moldings) black. I'm getting them painted silver to match the car.
So anyone have any suggestions?

odd.. as far as i know, only 94-95 LS's didn't have the side moldings painted. anyhow, to get at the side moldings, you have to take the interior door panels off and peel off the plastic seals. then you'll see the clips inside the door that you have to pop out. there also seem to be some sort of plastic bits holding the moldings on each end that you have to unscrew or undo.
to get at the moldings not on the door, i imagine there are similar clips underneath the interior panels there.

A lot of work for little benefit. The clips on the molding also tend to break when you remove them.
What i did was mask the rest of the door and quarter panel off and paint the moldings. Looks fantastic.
EDIT: why are you painting a 2000 teg moldings? arent they already body colored?

well i just molded my door moldings. I didnt really like them, but for taking them off its like 8 clips. I think u do have to take the interior off, but you might be able to just pull it off.But iom not so sure bout that, if its hard then dont force it.But yuea its like 8 clips, i have a clip tool, which makes it easier to NOT break the clips, and yes they are very easy to break, so be careful.

I think those of you who said you have a 2000 ls with the door moldings painted actually have the GS model. The ls doesn't have a sun roof and both of the ones here who said the moldings came painted look like they each have a sun roof. The ls also doesn't come with power locks, different rims (if those ones are the originals), cloth seats (not leather) and some other stuff.
Anyway, thanks to those who gave some info on the removal of the moldings. I'll give it a shot.

Dood......LS comes with a sunroof and they do come painted, I owned 2 of them a 96 & 97. They all come power everything just like the GS-R minus the third brake light & V-Tec. Sounds like yours is a base model homey. Even all websites who have 94-01 integra's shows the differences. Such as Temple of Vtec.
