Well duh.....
Its that way to keep you from watching full motion images
while driving.....there was a massive lawsuit filed against
all manufactures of mobile video unit in dash ones. I believe it was
settled recently. There is enough probs with cell phone usage and
driving...Please don't give "THEM" more reasons to take this
away from us too.

Why return it...they are great head units.
As for the lawsuit...unless you are involved in the
industry ( and it affected how you did biz)
there really wasnt the need to inform the
general public. There are so many things
going on that the average mobile audio
consumer doesnt know....For example:

In NYC a group named Transportation Alternatives
is lobbying the city council to pash a bill to ban the sale
and installation of auto security systems !!
I am not making this
up....this is serious.

A group called Noise Free America.. a group with 30 chapters
in 19 states...have tried to lobby against anything that makes noise
in thier minds...from stereos to Harleys...the work to get stiff anti noise
ordaninces passed.

A final note....I really dont know you personally, but Iam gonna state something based on my beliefs within my industry:

I would rather have you return the unit than have you use it in a manner
that goes against what the manufacture designed it to do...That way there
is less of a chance that groups like those above will have more fuel to take
away what few pleasures that we have.

Most install shops are required to connect the e-brake safety wire to the e-brake switch. Obviously this prevents you from watching images while moving. There are a couple solutions:

1) If you hate your brakes you can just pull the e-brake up until the BRAKE! light comes on on your dash. That should work and also works to toast your rear brakes.
2) Find the e-brake wire and reconnect it. It has to be connected to something (sorry, in the interest of safety I won't tell you what) or else the screen won't EVER work. But it is easy to bypass.

This post was written assuming that when you said it won't work with your e-brake down you were talking about a handbrake being disengaged. If you are engaging your e-brake and the unit is still not displaying a picture you have bigger problems.
