I did my swap (b16) into my 1990 crx about 6 months ago ever since I first started it it has been making a weird ticking noise sounds like it is coming from the area of the injectors/ back of the head. The noise has not gotten any worse and the engine runs fine (idol, v tec, and everything else!) oh yea the noise stops when vtec engages and startes again when disengages and the noise is some what constant. I have had several different fellow swappers look it over cant get a for sure answer????????????? I dont know I cant figure it out has anyone experienced this or does anyone know for sure.thanx 1badb16!

 

Yeah, I have been hearing noises lately too, like strange voices inside my head that tell me to...oh wait, you're talking about your car making noises...

Um, if everything runs fine then you're probably in the clear. I mean, 6 monthes is a long time and since you've noticed the noise from the beginning it's probably no big deal. But if you're not sure, as always, bring it to an experienced mechanic that know's Honda's and ask him to take a look.

 

check your valves. THey may need to be adjusted. They're easy to do if you know how to do it.

 

maybe its just the sound your injectors make when theyre injecting fuel into your motor. When u say it goes away during vtec, is it really going away? or is it that you cant hear it since your reving the motor? When u hear the ticking, can u hear it inside the car or only when ur uder the hood?

 

There is a oil additive that is real thick that helps take away the ticks... Seriously, look into it im not sure if it works, but I think its for the cylinders or something...
