Default Neuspeed SofSports vs. H&R OE Sport Springs

Pretty simple. I'm considering getting one of these two sets of springs. Some folks have said that they're the exact same springs with different names on it, but the pictures I've seen show the Neuspeeds appearing to have different heights for front/rear while the H&R's seem to be the same height all around. The H&R's are cheaper, I've found them for approx. $150-170, and the Neuspeeds are $180-220 depending on retailer.

I'm going to be pairing them up with KYB AGX shocks, I don't want a lot of lowering, just enough to remove some wheel gap (roads and climate being what they are in Michigan, a slammed car is not a good thing) and I want them a bit stiffer than stock, but not bone-jarring. I've always been partial to Neuspeed personally, but I figured I'd get some opinions. Thoughts, anyone?

This is the story I was told by my local speedshop owner (a guy who's been pretty honest with me for the countless years I've been to his shop).

A few years back, Neuspeed used to re-badge H&R springs as their own. So back then, the springs were identical.

Now, Neuspeed does not use H&R springs as their own. They have another company (or maybe they now make their own) springs.

I believe H&R is still made in the H&R Company in Germany. Quality has been and still is top notch.

My experience with Neuspeed (sport springs) was that they sagged a little more than 1/2 inch, making my drop 2.25 inch (vs. the claimed 1.75 inch). It was a lot lower than I wanted.

But now, I have the H&R OE Sport Springs. It's been over a year since I've had them and the drop is pretty much the claimed 1.25". Very little if any sagging.

I have a 94 GSR with Tokico Illuminas. I love the springs. The ride is only a little harsher (especially over bumps), but the handling is very nice!

Trust me, SofSports or OE Sport will NOT lower your car enough. You will not be able to tell at all that your car is lowered.

Instead, get the Eibach Prokit or even dare to lower more and get the Neuspeed/H&R Sport springs..All 3 choices are quality springs. Neuspeed can be found in the 150 range online, but some shops offer free install which saves a lot of money..

I have ProKit, and they look cool in the back,. but the front still needs to be a little bit lower...

I gotta respectfully disagree about H&R OE (or SofSports) not lowering your car enough to be noticed.

It's noticeable...but just not as noticeable as the other lowering springs. It just depends on how much of a drop you consider "enough" or "too much".

Parking my car besides my buddies unlowered GSR, the lowering is noticeable...however, if you're looking for very little (or no gap) beteen the tire and the fender, then you'll be disappointed.

When I had the Neuspeed Sports, I only had a 1 finger gap between the top of my tire and wheel well. To me, that was way too low (since I didn't want that much lowering to begin with).

I was in the same position as you LnWolf. I just wanted a "little" bit of lowering but increased handling. And the H&R OE Sports was perfect. I have about a 1 5/8" gap in my front wheels (vs. about 5/8" gap with the Neuspeed Sports...too low for my use).

Those numbers are what I have and your car may be different. But those are good ballpark figures for your GSR for you to make a decision.

And I can still make it over speedbumps just fine

Just get a set of Ground Control, that way you can set it exactly how you low you want it. And get custom spring rates, that way you can choose how smooth or harsh the ride is. Your only playing guess and check when it comes to lowering your car using springs.

tanabe is what you need if you dont to be tooo low. the SuperH springs lower youre car 1 inch. i think the springs are orange. they might be a little more than neu or h&r around $225 but you wont regret it.

You should check out cars with those different springs. With OE Sports, I really can't tell..barely. If I can't really tell, no one else is really going to tell. People still ask me "When are you going to drop your car?"....and I'm down 1.3inch!!
