do the set rings on the axles need to be replaced when you buy a swap that comes with axles? or can you re-use the old ones?

 

if they are bad then replace them, otherwise leave them alone!

 

In most cases the axles that come with swaps aren't usable, except as cores.

 

how can the axles not be usable? why even include them in the swap then? i thought everyone uses the axles that come with the swaps they buy.

 

Ha I could go take a picture of the ones they sent me if you'd like, there is usually nothing left of the CV boots.

EDIT: I'm sure on occassion they are still usable just not likely.

 

just honestly depends where you buy your swap from, how many miles, how many years old etc. If you buy a newer motor that doesnt have exessive miles, there is nothing wrong with using the axles that come with the swap. Most commonly they are used as cores seeing that its only 100 bux to get remanufactured axles at pepboys or any auto store. The downside is they are remanufactured with different parts then OEM and OEM tends to last longer... atleast thats what some say.
