Ingersoll-Rand

Pricey, but you pay to get the best. They make awesome air tools.

Do you mean air ratchet when you say it is weak?

If your looking for a good 1/2 " drive impact gun , then the IR is the way to go. Mac Tools sells the IR under the Mac Tools name, but it's the same gun.
If you are talking about an air ratchet , Snap-on, Mac, and Matco all sell decent air ratchets. I have been using a cheap imitation CP 3/8" air ratchet from Harbor Freight & Tools for like 5 years, and it is still going strong. Best $35 I ever spent.

Thats what I've got and it kicks ***. 600ft/lbs in reverse, 400 forward.

I just got an add from sears yesterday and they had a gun in there that looked pretty much the same and had the same specs, but had craftsman on the case. It was less than $170 which is a good price if its the same gun.

Ratchet wrenches are not really designed for high torque. You break the bolt loose, then let the air ratchet do all the work.

In a word, yes. My el-cheapo air ratchet puts out maybe 30 ft/lbs of torque, and it does fine used daily for 5+ years.

My cheapo ratchet takes for ever, I just use the impact most of the time. I have a Porter Cable 400lb that works great, and as of about two weeks ago I have a 500lb Chicago Pnumatics that was ported out by a company in St. Charles to do 700lbs of torque. My Ported CP gun will kick the *** of any stuck bolt out there.

Yes. Upgrade your compressor. You want at least a 20 gal compressor for any air tools.
