Default 5th Gear Grinding in my 96. ? on wide body

Hello, anyone else having trouble with 5th gear grinding. It is common with ludes and I dont know what causes it? Also, does anyone know where I can pick up some good wide body flares??

5th gear synchros are just plain ugly on these poor cars.
They always go out first.

You're three choices are:
#1. Pull the tranny and replace the synchros before you grind gears to a pulp. (I would go ahead and do all of them while it's out, it won't be cheap, but neither is pulling it out to do another set later down the road) They'll be in sets of gears: 1-2 3-4 and 5 that you'll want to replace I believe. It may have a 2-3, but I can't quite recall, I'm having a brain drain on that. I don't believe so, but someone can double check me very easily.

#2. Get a used tranny and risk the same problem.

#3. Give me your number and lets have dinner... ok, well, that doesn't do you any good with your tranny. But it made sense when I thought of it.

Hey thanks for the help maybe you can do the work?? I have another ? Would my header make my heat gauge rise and discolor my hood?

a header won't discolor your hood, and shouldn't effect the temp gauge one bit.

It will smoke a little when you first install it, and smell funny for a day or two, but that's it.
