Default A Race

I have a 1994 Accord 4-dr EX MANUAL. A girl i know has a boyfriend that owns a 1995 Accord 4-dr EX AUTO. No mods on either car as of this point. I dont know much about racing, nothing at all to be sure of. But if he was to want to race.....what do you do to race another car. Ive never been in the situation. Some pointers on how to start off and whatever else is nessecary to beat this guy. Appreciate any help or advice on this one. Thanks.

engines are the same i believe. So you two are the same...the only thing though is the transmission...when cars are the same, the manual transmission is always faster than auto, unless the driver with manual trans. doesn't know how to drive good with a stick...

Yea, and the only thing that would help out an auto in a drag race is launching in D3.

Flash your highs if your behind him, or put on your hazards. And of course if you're at a stop light together, just rev that baby til the christmas tree hits green

practice launching and speed shifting. And I would advise going to a track. As discussed earlier, unless you have fast enough car to out run them, you don't wanna get caught street racing.

launching in D3 won't help. you still gotta go through the first 2 gears before you get to third. i have an auto and i found the best way to launch is to power brake, hold the gas and brake at the same time, but this tears up ur tranny. so i really don't recommend it.

The reason why launching in D3 is good is that it raises the engine RPM to its peak powerband sooner and holds it there longer than launching from D4. The transmission will shift from first gear and subsequent gears at a higher RPM and provide more torque sooner. That and using the hand brake to hold the car and your right foot about to mash the gas when the green light greets you gives good reaction time. I did this and noticed how quickly my tach was nearing redline.
