my 93 civic after its been sitting overnight and i start it will clonk out after about 8 minutes and wont start then like 5 min later it'll start and run just fine. any ideas why?

so let me get this straight

you walk outside in the morning, start the car, drive it for a couple minutes then it randomly shuts off?

does it do it while your driving or when you stop (like at a light)

 

Whats your temp gauge read? If it overheats it will shut itself down and wont start for a few minutes until it cools down enough.

 

uh,it isnt overheating,its everyday 8 min after i start the car no matter if its parked or im driving it cuts out and wont start for like 5 min,its like it floods but i dont know what the deal is so any help is appreciated- holla

Does it have spark when it acts up?

 

Ahh..you pissed that motor off..or maybe you feed it with too much oil..^_^ just kidding

did you change ur spark plug and wire? sometime it does that...it didn't pick up the power and it went out ...
How old is the battery?..maybe the battery didnt have enough electrical charge... Check ur electric system, maybe it was just an electric loose..

 

If the battery didn't have enough power to run the car it definitely wouldn't have enough to start it, it takes more power to start the car than to run it since the alternator recharges the battery as soon as it starts spining. Sounds more like the alternator, it's probably something heat related.
