Since the accident.. my Dad is leaning more on the side of getting me an Si, because he thinks the vtec might be a little too fast for me. But i still want a vtec lude (i loved it). I heard that the si's can take the vtec's off the line (stock vs stock). And the si's are better to go force induction then the vtec's because the compression ratio's are lower? But i'm planning to go all motor anyways with the vtec. So what you guys think? Si or Vtec???
There's no reason that an H23 should beat an H22 period off the line or top end. Unless the driver of the H22 sucks, or misses a gear etc... H22's take boost just fine. In fact probably better than H23's because there's less lag in an H22 because of the 10:1 compression. The lower compression the more lag. But since you're going all motor why not go with an H22? Go big or go home. JMO.
I love my Si, vtec 'ludes are quicker, but a turbo H23 is nice.
H23's are very torquey and very capable motors. A basic turbo setup will yield more power for less money than all motor.

And tell him Insurance rates between Si's and Vtec's are not much different
But then you might get an S

I disagree, it has to do with your age, record ect, I pay 2k a year, full cov. for my Si, the vtec was gonna cost me close to 6k, insurance compaany said it was an "intermediate sports car"

If you lived in WA..i'd think about it. Yah, i'm going to get vtec. Just my parents are a lil' skeptical on letting me buy another black car. Cuz my prelude that was totalled was black..so i'm probably just going to drive with my headlights on...even in the daytime. Right now there's like only black prelude for sale.

Damn straight, boosted H23 is definately the way to go. and the whole compression thing has nothing to do w/ lag, it simply affects how well your turbo setup operates. Anyway, what you should do, dude, is get an S!! that's right, an S!! You said the motor in your old lude is fine, just get an S shell, drive it around for awhile with is weakling f22 while you build up your old motor -cough- turbo -cough- then once it's done, swap her in & have one hell of a fast car. if you could do it with your parents premission/without them finding out. or just hang on to the motor 'til you're out of hight school.

i seriously hope your kidding...and your sig about low end?? heres a fact for you, Vtecs have MORE tourqe, hate to burst your bubble...and as is said no Si is taking a Vtec off the line assuming the driver knows what theyre doing...but hell i can rape AWD evos off the line with incompetent drivers, and as for building the h23 all motor, its kinda pointless...ive got a few bolt ons, look at my 1/4 times in my sig, and let me know how long it takes you to get to that figure with an all motor H23, the cams for them suck, most are regrinds...just not a good platform to go all motor from..my opinion..peace

I hate to admit that he's right about that one. Most cams for the h23 are regrinds. In fact, i haven't seen ANY cams for the h23 that aren't yet. In general, aftermarket parts for the h23 are rare. I actually scraped my all motor gameplan over a year ago when I realized how hard it would be just finding parts. Going all motor is hard enough but then you add having to become an engineer to build your own parts!!!! But as far as the better motor, it's all up to the drivers
clay smith cams, I was told they are not regrinds and they sure as hell don't look like regrinds. But that is why I am building the h23, no one else has done it, I like a good challange, plus, over here one the east coast its hard to get h22 blocks and heads, so its easier and cheaper for me to build up the motor i have
First of all why is your dad buying you a car? Secondly, go with the H22. But, then again if someone else is buying a car dont be stingy let pick out what they are spending their money on. They are generous enough to even spend it on a car for you.

Actually i'm paying my dad monthly for the car...while he buys it for me in the mean time. Since it's actually my MONEY going into it, i would like to pick out the car my self. I remembered the sound when my vtec hits..it was simply breath taking

hard to get parts on the east coast??? you can get an entire longblock for like 1200 bucks shipped to you, i got my entire swap for 2100, motor tranny ecu..even came with AC compressor and Alt ect ect ect...and im as east coast as you can get, central florida on the beach...you can buy cams, i/h/e/saf/pullies/flywheel/ect ect for your car and the BEST ive ever seen for an h23 was 14.6 on drag radials, if u have an h23 and wanna keep it, just boost it, run 7 psi and your going to have a fairly reliable motor, that will make good power....peace
