You forget to wire up the VTEC??

 

Sounds like you "really" need to check your wiring. You have to have an engine code. Other than a massive fuel system issue, or injector issue, I can't think of another reason why you would have that problem.

A 4k limit would not be caused by the lack of VTEC wiring. You can still run it to redline...just no power.
