H22A into 92 VX. Starting issues -- Main relay please help!
hey, I'm having starting issues and I'd GREATLY appreciate you're guys' experience and advice since I'm pretty pissed and stumped at this issue
I just transferred my jdm h22 from my 93 EX over to a 92 VX. My EX with the H22 ran flawless with zero issues the whole time, and the 92 VX was also running with no problems.
Both cars parked, and the transferring begun. I swapped the H22 from the EX to the VX, leaving the EX harness on the H22 (with it being adapted already) and just clipping in at the shock tower. Knock sensor had to be added again.
I also took out the dash for stripping/cleaning, and modified no wires, other than adding knock sensor to D3, and connecting the harnesses at the shock towers.
When I try and start the car, the main relay does not turn on at all, thus not turning on the fuel pump and no spark as well. I have checked all fuses several times with me thinking it's either a fuse or must be a simple dumb error (with either grounding or some harness not fully clipped in), but the relay refuses to turn on when the key goes to the ON switch.
I also switched out the main relays from my EX to the VX to be sure it's not the relay, as well as jumped wires according to the 92-95 Civic Helms manual, and both relays click.
As for ECU's, my P13 ran fine the whole time, but I also have tried the stock P07 and still the same results!
What I'm thinking is some harness is probably not clipped in the whole way, not completing the circuit, or there is some ground in the dash area, etc that I am missing. I have checked that grounds at the tranny to the frame rail, thermostat housing, valve cover ground, and battery ground, is there something else?
At this point, I'm pretty burnt out, and any input/advice for those of you who know would be GREATELY appreciated. I'm dying to have this car running!!
TIA.

i just did a type -R swap in a 92 vx that ran fine when it was in the type-R. i put the thing in the vx and it would turn but wouldnt start. then the thing wouldnt even turn over later leaving me puzzeled. i gave the starter a better ground and nothing again. i checked everything and all fuses and they were fine.
i had a dx harness laying around and i wrapped it on the type-R and it started fine. i put back the modified vx harness that was on the motor before when i was having these problems and it stated up just fine. it was wierd i did nothing to the harness just put it back in after the dx harness now it has no problems.
take the vx harness and plug in the injectors, distributor and starter and all important ones that are needed for the motor to start leave the other ones like vtec and knock sensor out. see what happens. it might work
if it doesnt get a volt meter and strat checking things.

Yeah, I was thinking of switching over the EX shock tower harness and the driver harness going to the main relay, and just run full EX harnesses as configured in the EX.
Very strange. That is also a 4th plug on the passenger shock tower harness that I found to have D3 pinout, and EGR crap that I think has an open circuit and not allowing the car to start as well.
ARGH. Thanks mucho man. I'll just swap over all the EX crap to the VX and hope it works.

I'm thinking it's the VX shock tower harness having an open circuit or something when combined with the EX engine harness. I'm going to switch to the EX shock tower harness and such.
I *pray* this friggin works.
