MY LUDE IS F*CKED....what's wrong with it????
What's up guys and girls. I was heading out tonight to catch up with my boys and my car just started feeling weird. Weird= engine rockin and huge clouds of smoke from my exhaust after I change gears and excelerate. I stopped at a gas station, popped the hood, checked the oil, took off the oil cap(a little smoke came out). Besides the smoke coming from the head after taking off the oil cap, everything was fine. Had plenty of oil and I had plenty of gas. I can't be burning oil cause it doesn't smell like it. I think it's BIGGER than that. My step dad thinks it has something to do with my fuel injection (not mixing correctly or something). I think it is more serious....like a problem with the head or block. ANY INPUT IS APPRECIATED...TAKING CAR TO HONDA DEALER TOMORROW AND I DON'T WANT THEM TO SCREW ME OVER AND SAY I NEED A NEW ENGINE(unless that's necessary). Engine is an H23 w/ 120,XXX miles. Your help is greatly appreciated...

Do you have a VTEC head on it? From my experience at Honda dealership they will charge you to do diagonostics works, even if its something simple as a CEL and you know what the code is. As for your problem, beats the hell out of me.

you're gonna have to be more specific...
After driving opening the oil cap you'll see a little smoke..that's normal..
Describe the problem...was it a knocking? Describe the smoke...

I understand it is normal for smoke to come out after taking off the oil cap....but there was a noticeable difference in the amount that came out. Everytime I changed gears....and then accelerated, it felt like **** first of all, like the car was going to die....plus thick brown smoke came from the exhaust. The smell of the smoke was strong and didn't smell like burning oil. I have no clue what is wrong. It doesn't seem like a minor problem...but I would like it to be. When you say knocking...there was no knocking sound....more like the engine was kind of stuttering(kinda resembling when water is in your spark plugs) The stuttering was only really noticeable whenever I would push the gas.
if the smoke is white comming out the exhaust then your buring coolant..
if the smoke is black comming out the exhaust then your running rich..
if the smoke is blue comming out the exhaus tthen your burning oil...
do a comp test...

The smoke is a thick white/beige. Burning coolant wouldn't cause my engine to stutter would it? How do I burn coolant...a leak in the hose...or what? So, should I just check my radiator for something?
how many miles and what not. It could even be something like the distributor is shot and causing it to mis-fire under more load. When mine did this it would miss under 2300 rpm's if i went much more than partial throttle
Which part of the head gasket? Cylinder head? I don't spray...it's a stock H23 with 120,XXX miles on it...Just getting ready to put on an AEM CAI. Now I have to use that money to fix this ****. I don't think it's coolant, since it is full. I guess we'll find out once honda gets it. I'm having it towed to the Honda dealer today. I'll let you guys know what's wrong with it when they tell me

Nate, I might have been able to get you somewhat of a discount at Honda. Let me know if you took your car in already. BTW, sorry to hear about your car misbehaving.
I haven't taken the car in yet. It will be going in to the honda dealer tomorrow morning. I have no clue what it is...but we will find out when Honda gets it. I've checked every inch of that engine bay and there is nothing noticeable from the exterior.
leak down test...IMO lose the hot import nights sticker...

no kidding, guys. Lay off w/ the pic bashing quotes! anyway, I would definately do a compression test. sounds likea head gasket to me. About the thick brown smoke......did u put diesel in?? j/k. that's the only thing I could think of for brown smoke. but, I guess we'll see what Honda says!

The pic isn't needed. he's just trying to show off his car which he already did in a previous post. It's like me making a post sayin i blew my piston rings then showing pics of my rims. Its irrelevant.

if he didnt have the hose connected to the map sensor it would throw a cel...pull your spark plugs good place to start, and check your coolant if your head gasket is blown, your coolant should be milky..peace
