ls/vtec in 89 civic?
i have a friend with a 89 civic hatch that already had an ls engine in it.it was running fine with a 91 ls ecu and distributor.he installed a vtec head and distributor from a 99 si and it will crank and run for a second and then shut off.he changed to a jdm crx b-series distributor and it still does the same thing.we tried two pr4 ecus and a pr6 as well and it still does the same thing.does he have to have a pr3 or should it run with a pr4?also,he is wanting to trigger the vtec with a apexi v-afc.will it work if you just hook up the output from the v-afc to the selenoid or does it have to have the signal from a pr3 ecu.also,if the v-afc will work like that,do you have to hook up the vtec pressure sensor?if so does one go to signal for the ecu and the other to ground or 12v+?also,i know you need to add a second o2 sensor to the pr3 ecu,but what about a knock sensor?if you need a knock sensor,will it go in a ls block?i know this is alot of questions but it sure would help,thanks!
