Does the USDM ITR have those black tar like mats on the car body in the back? Like beneath the back seat and beneath the spare tire cover?
Does it really work and how do I remove it? Any ideas about the weight saving?

No sound deadening material is used on the USDM R - it's just painted metal back there.
You need a heat gun to get it off.

There shouldn't be any sound dampening tar on an ITR.
At least I haven't found any yet (haven't removed the rear seats though).

Hmmmm, I wonder why there are some (5 in total) tar mats in the Euro ITR. It's only in the back of the car.....

none on the inside of the ITR in the back.
there is tons all over the outside bottom however.
it comes off better when freezing cold.
