Default Ideas for a light weight hatch with stock functionality (CRX)

I was looking at future mods for my CRX when I decided that I wanted to further lighten my hatch. I currently have Lexan Windows. But I was thinking about getting either a Fiberglass, aluminium, or carbon fiber hatch that retains stock functionality. Does such a thing exist?

thanks

Did you do any kind of weight figuring with the lexan vs the glass? How much do you think you saved?

Try going to http://www.speedmachineracing.com . I think that the vertical window is deleted though, which might make it a little harder to use the rear veiw mirror.

I have seen the MB fiberglass piece, but they are still working on a mount kit. I have heard someone say that they have an aluminium hatch, and I have seen carbon fiber on a 92+ hatch, just not on a CRX. How hard would it be to use carbon fiber in the mold rather than fiberglass?

Well if you find where to get an aluminum one, would you post it because I would love to get one of those.

OK take a large pice of cardboard, corragated, if possible. Cut it to the size and shape of you stock hatch. Cut a window whole. Take the thinist lexan you can find, and instal it in your new light wight hatch. Duckt tape the hatch to your $500 hasport lightwight hatch mount kit, and paint it whatever color you want.

Dude worry about getting you car runinng right befor you worry about a lightwight hatch, Get the stuff you need And I can turn a wrench for you. Unfortunatly Rob has ruined shop time for everyone else I know

Actually I think someone did make one, and was selling them or was seeing how many people wanted to buy one. He posted it before at http://resource.crx.org/ , maybe go there and make a topic and maybe he will reply.

the glass is most of the weight of the hatch. if you already replaced that with lexan i dont think its really worth it to go further unless you're full race.
