zc code 8.....tried search with no luck
Here's the situation: I put a zc into my si about a year ago. just reciently i wrapped some electrical tape around my getto distributor wire setup (you know all the dist wires that have to be changed) since then my car zdyne ecu has been giving me a code 8. i tried soldering the wires and insulating them but i still get the same error. The car's idle fluctuates anywhere from 200 to 1200. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
well i put in a new cap and rotor, the old ones were pretty ugly. No luck.....after i take my foot off the accelerator the rpm's drop down around 200 or less.........wtf is this crap. i guess i'll just have to break down and spend 200 on a new distributor
code 8 on the ecu means TDC(timing), so see what's going on there...
the car shutting off
try checking all the wires to the ecu.
when does it happen? when you take a bump...?
and what do you mean about the wires to the distributor, it should only be 2 of them that need to be rewired.

the car shuts off randomly, idle will drop down and it will just stall. I'm just worried because everything was running fine until about a week ago. There were just two wires that needed to be rewired to the exhaust cam sensor but then i had to change the wiring harness adapter from the stock si to the zc distributor plug (different shapes). by timing do you mean cam timing (distributor) or crankshaft timing? sorry im a new and don't know the lingo...what do you mean by bump?...a lot of people us it.
Check the cam timing. Make sure the arrows on the cams are pointing up, slightly inward when No. 1 cylinder is at top dead center. Check out dmoore.com/crx for more info.
