The US spec civic si has a k20a3 motor.....160hp 5 speed.
The euro civic type r has a k20a2 motor (rsx type s motor) with 200hp and a 6 speed.

mr. Knighton is correct.

I'll add that the only other changes of note are that the euro type-r gets the rsx's suspension down to the 5-lug. Their struts are wider than the USDM EP3, the sway bar is 22mm though.

aside from that, there are no hidden changes.

*edit* the euro type-r also has aluminum LCA's to reduce unsprung mass. But most of the parts will bolt on to the usdm EP3 with little or no modification. There are no extra welds on the type-r chassis as there was before.

The Euro version has aluminum lower control arms? That's funny, cause the model in Japan doesn't have them and it has a 215ps K20A. Not that it needs them because of the extra power. Just wonder why, since the car is imported from the UK that they wouldn't include them on the JDM model. Price can't be the reason, because the Civic R and Integra R are similar priced with the same equipment, actually the ITR costs about $550 more.

The dc5-r has aluminum LCA's. I assume the CTR has them as well - it would make sense since that's part of the usual type-r treatment for past type-r's

Not sure 100% sure if the CTR even has them, but according to this post, the DC5-r definitely does as someone is trying to put them on an ep3.

Hmmm.

I had my hand on my ITR LCA just the other day. It didn't feel like aluminium.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Maybe I should rephrase to say that part of the type-r treatment involves reducing unsprung weight - the dc2 type-r has lighter LCAs than the regular dc2.

Aluminum LCAs on the new type-r wouldn't surprise me as a result.

i was clarifying as my post was questioned.

I suppose I should just label the notion of the CTR having aluminum LCAs as hearsay for now until i have better documentation of the fact.
