This is my first post here, although ive been a longtime reader. Its almost time for my first car purchase, and ive been looking really hard into a 4g Prelude. I've run into a little bit of confusion about certain aspects of the 4th generation, im not entirely sure which model i should hunt down. I was wondering if any of you could give me some advice based on ur experiences about if i should go look for a non vtech si (H23? the 160 hp one) or a si Vtec (h22?, im not sure, the one with 190 hp) and how to identify each model. I need to make the right decision on this, this will be my ongoing project and i plan to do huge stuff to it ( built block and turbo'ed) because its my only expense right now.

Any help is greatly appreciated and i welcome any other peices of advice u might have, even suggestions for other cars (ive considered GSRs, 1992-95 Civic sis, but the 4g prelude seems like something that is quite comprable and more rare among heavily tuned hondas)?

Prelude is bettaaa haha....... here is what u want.....if u can get a Vtec h22a1 190hp harder to find......the Si isn't bad also great motor 160 hp and later on u can also do a h22a swap 200hp and the Si tranny will bolt right up.....id say get a 4th gen.....the vtec are faster than GSR and Civic Si ..get a lude

 

What is the name of the 4g that has the h22a1 in it? Prelude Si VTEC? i would want to get the one with the best motor in it already, so i dont hafta do a swap. Also which motor, in your opinion, is best to go all out on (full on FI set up) H22 or H23 ( ive been hearin lots of both sides)?

S - F22a1 135hp
Si - H23a1 160hp
Vtec - H22a1 190hp

Si Vtec= if u had a Si and put a Vtec engine in it so chassie code BB2(Si) with h22a =Si Vtec id go find a VTEC BB1 all the way

 

1993 = Si-VTEC

1994-1996 = VTEC

(for the vtec models, they dropped the SI name starting in 94)

 

i have heard more pro about turbo'ing an h23 because of the open/closed deck issue. (h23 is closed) and the h23 handles boost better than the 22.
