Default ***Hatch or Crx: Better for a drag car???***

I need need to know which would be better/faster for a 1/4 mi. drag race car....I will be going with a B16a or B18c(gsr) TURBO set up....My first though was to go with a crx 'cause its lighter....is there a plus side to the hatch??? (by the way what is the weight difference between the two cars and would it make a diff in my situation?!)....THANX!!

Go with whichever you like better...

I don't think a slightly longer wheelbase is gonna help much. CRX's are lighter too. I would go with an 88 HF as a drag car, or an 88 STD Civic (which I have, and it weighs 2005 pounds with my B16A at the track, 30 more pounds on the street).

CRX by far.

88 HF. Go kart compareable weight + more aerodynamic body style makes the CRX the obvious choice.

The wheel base doesn't really matter compared to the civic, as long as the suspension is setup correctly.

If its going to be an all out drag car you might want to go with a hatch or sedan(92-95 would work better) but if it going to be a car you're going to show off your ******* in then I'd go with the crx. They seem to hook up better on the street and when people look under the hood and see a b18c turbo'd they won't want to race you anyway because they know that they will get owned.

I have both a 93 hatch and a crx and love both cars sooo....

well crx would be my choice, BUT the 92+ civic hatch CX i guess is suppose to be lighter then a crx..might want to check that out.

I thought a 88 Crx HF was 50-100 lbs lighter than the Hatch CX.

My vote still goes for the 88 civic std... it would be 1800 lbs if I hadn't put in a B series!

On the "EF" weights, is the weight for the 92 civic LX THAT heavy?? I didn't know it was a good 600 pounds more than the EF chassis vehicles. Also, the LX had a lot more options than the DX but only weighs like 50-60 pounds more?

Plus the sunroof the EX got was only 60 pounds compared to the LX?

i didnt make this graph, but it seems correct on the on the crx to hb calculations and was just showing the difference of those two cars...

as far as the 92 civic lx being that heavy, as i can see i dont see an entry for the 92 lx (maybe im going blind?)

lx to dx why is it just 50-60 lbs,,, im not a lx or dx guy so i dont know what they had and what was taken out so..

you'll find that certaing features were added then taken off to compasate for the new feature like a sunroof..... but thats all speculation,,, i only know my crx, hb from the 88-95 everthing else im clueless on features and such...

safety structure of the car. more metal to make it safer, stiffer. (<< before the concept of crumple zone) while still keep the general form of the car...the main reason...
