Default Home Depot Brake Ducts?

first off is this possible on a 4th gen ive seen it done on 5th gens before. and secondly where can i put the tubes and are they pretty effective (for the $10 it cost to make them?) and are there any downsides? and a related topic should i remove my dust shields? i read that this is beneficial for braking performance. Thanks guys
