Default My current motor build...need some opinions

Alright, this past winter i picked up a gsr head w/ skunk2 valvetrain and a set of skunk2 valves in standard compression..the head was already drilled for an ls/vtec and had the hole tapped and plugged by the previous owner, but in the process he didnt get the plug to go all the way into the head so he took a grinder to it and shaved the head a little...now my plans are to have the new skunk2 valves installed and get the head cleaned up a bit, but should i get this patch of grinded down area welded and resurface the whole head? and if so any idea of how much this would cost me?

?'s about my ls/vtec build
1) should i get the grinded down portion fixed? or will it be alright
2) can i run usdm b16 pistons on the stock ls rods? cause i want my cr to be bumped up a little.
3) I was planning on running some skunk2 stg 1 cams. Is there enough clearance for these lifts etc w/ the b16 pistons...
4)tunning wise i was planning on running a hondata and gettin it tuned w/ cam gears etc. would i need to get bigger injectors or will they be able to use my stock gsr injectors...

other parts going into the build...
freshly honed stock b18a block w/ all new bearings & washers
new rings
gsr head PnP w/ skunk 2 valvetrain
skunk2 im
...i havent got any plans on an exhaust quite yet mostly because this is just a temporary motor for me to have fun w/ while completly building my gsr for boost...

any pics of the grinded area? hard to say without seeing how bad it is, most likely u could just get your head resurfaced. and yes u can use b16a pistons on your ls rods, and running the skunk2's shouldn't cause any problems as far as clearance. Of course you're gonna always wanna clay your motor before you put it back together just in case.

coo coo, ya i already got input on the grinded hole from my other forum im part of team-integra.net, so most likely im gonna get it resurfaced and stuff. I just want to know is there any setup better>? best bang for the buck w/ somewhat reliablity

You can go with a higher compression pistons like itr/ctr's and run a thin headgasket and id get a fuel regulator.

b16a pistons actually have higher dome and yield more compression for ls/vtec i believe. correct me if i am wrong. but they will fit on the ls rods no prob. good luck. sounds like a good setup. should yield you some respectable times.

ya, the reason im going to run the b16 vs the itr or gsr is because of compatability. Im looking not for a cheap but a respectable ls/vtec setup and to avoid any more machine work the b16 pistons mate up w/ no mods..so its easy to get good cr's out of them. Also to the thinner head gasket, my cr is already going to be 11.6cr any higher wouldnt i be undercamming the motor, i know skunk2 stg 1's like around 11ish. thanks for all you help and opinions!
