How easy is engine work done on an S2k?
I'm thinking about getting one... gonna get a decent chunk and the only problem is I will not leave a car I own alone... So how hard is big overhaul work it looks like a big pain even doing simple stuff like changing intake manifolds... Anybody got experience in mod'ing an s2k? B-series tegs are a piece of cake. I'm thinking the S2k is the opposite of the spectrum. Thanks.

Its actually an easy car to work on. I'm not big on working on FWD cars myself, but for a RWD car, not bad at all. Thing is, with modding them, you throw a lot of dough at it and get minimal to moderate performance gains. Nothing much really at all. Sometimes I wonder if throwing 1500 bucks to "feel" a little bit better accelleration is really worth it.
If you have to overhaul, or rebuild of any kind, the sleeves in the engine are unique, so its not like you are going to overbore the motor by any slight margin at all.
Overall, maintenance is like any car - its typical like most cars. and some things, like the diff, need not special, but not typical sockets & wrenches. Otherwise, its pretty straightforward with no surprises that come to mind.

mod's for an s2k are pretty limited, and pricey. also, like the post above said, much of the gains are more seat of the pants, or minimal at best...i have a civic as well, and every weekend it feels like it's up on stands, and something is being taken off, installed, changed around, etc.....but the s2...nothing. i'm happy with the way the car is.
