Default Does Hedman make a good header for the Civic?

My ZC has (what I think is a) 88-91 Civic Header on it. It is like 3'' too long to meet up with my Cat. So I tried having it welded shorter but they can't because of the O2 sensor and all that. So now I have decided just to get a new header. I think 92-95 Civic one is the correct one to get right? I have not so much money anymore so I was wondering if Hedman makes a good header as theirs is like $160. I know usually for that price you get a pos header but I want to make sure it will last a decently long time. Any comments on it. Or also if anyone knows any other decent cheap header manufacturers that would be cool to.

the chikara header by headman is decent. its 128 shipped from summit. get it for an 88-91 civic/crx si. will match up perfectly with your exhaust

I have a ZC though, I heard 88-91 will not fit. Whatever Header I have no is not fitting right. Who here can 100% say they know which header will bolt up with the ZC, the 88-91 or the 92-95???

Yes but will it bolt up to the rest of my exhaust, that is what I want to know. What header for the ZC do I use so that it works with my Cat and Cat-back made for the 88-91 Civic.

youd use the d16a6 header. when my buddy had his zc his a6 from DC bolted up fine and everyhting matched. its the same size as the chickara. i see no reason why it would work. a 92-95 wont work b/c the distances etc are all different. engine bay is larger etc etc.

i am wondering the same thing. what i have heard has the best results is using the upper portion of teh stock zc ex manifold (header) & mate it to the lower portion of an aftermarket for 92-95 civic's.

Yeah but since the ZC sits on the same mounts as the A6 and ZC is DOHC isn't the exhaust manifold going to be closer to the front of the car than it would be on the A6?

there is that much of a distance change to throw things out of wack. your exhaust is hung on rubber mounts. you can move the thing all over the plcae to bolt **** up.

So if I order a 88-91 Header it will bolt up to the ZC and my Cat and all that crap just fine? Cuz I need to order this tonight and the header I have now is a DC Sports but it is like 3'' too long to even fit no matter now much I push back the exhaust.

no matter what d series header you buy you will have to port the tubes to match up w/ the motor. just fyi in case you didn't know.

I know you have to port match, that I don't care about. I just care it bolts up to my engine and to the rest of the exhaust. I can't drive around without a cat on my car or a muffler.

yes, it will bolt up. i have a d16 a6 manifold on my dual cam zc right now until i get my homemade header done. it works fine. the ports are a little bigger on the zc, do some grinding of the header when you get it, its gonna need it. but yes, it will bolt onto the head.

I already ordered a new Header from summit. It was $130 shipped, can't beat that. I just want my car running, don't care about the best parts just yet.

if your just looking for a simple replacement and thats it, chikara would be fine, but i had one on my old d16 for a while, i didnt feel any improvment. When feeling inside the tubes, it was really unsmooth. the welds stuck out on this inside of the pipes. it was a bit rusty after about a year of use.

id say if your just looking for a replacement and not performance, chikara will work, it was on my car for about 3 years and it still ran ok just a lil rusty nothin too bad

Yea...i installed a chikara header on my b18a a few months ago and i could tell a HUGE difference in the low end. And mine was really smooth on the inside...there werent any burres or welds sticking out in there. Overall i give the chikara header ...I know that it doesnt flow as well as a JDM DC or anything like that. It does create power and it doesnt scrape and IT WAS ONLY $120. Thanks
