Its not bad when im on local streets doing 40mph but when I get on the freeway doing 75-80 it gets pretty bad. It makes a buzzing noise (almost like a sworm of beez) to supress it I usually place a grip on the stick itself. But when im on the throttle it usually quiets down again, but once I let off.. buzzzzzzzzzzz..
Over the weekend, during my evo install I attempted to tighten the 2 nuts right below the shifter.. I guess that did nothing. What can I do? Ive had this generic shifter for about 2 years now, it was given to me as a Bday present. It was okay for a while but it started getting noisy

You probably need to add some washers to the through-bolt on the bottom of the shifter. I used several washers plus a lock washer on mine, almost 2 years ago, and no rattle whatsoever ever since.
I think it's in need of washers also. From what I remember the driver side has to have more washers than the passenger-side. It plagued me for awhile with my B&M. I eventually got rid of that one and bought the DC.
When I got the DC it had a bearing at the bottom with spacers that attached. Then I noticed that one of the spacer was wider on one side than on the other. I figured that must've been the problem the whole time with the B&M.

Pat I think I know what you are talking about, by any chance do you have a diagram of where the washers should be placed?

From this pic you can see that the passenger side needs washers. I think I added several on the passenger side, plus one washer and one lock washer on the driver side of the shift lever, to take up all the space and keep it from rattling.

I have a Ractive shifter. It rattles (exactly the way you described it) because the slightly longer arm allows the counter-weight to rest on one of the exhaust shield in first, third, and fifth.
You may want to look into that, too.
