So they have a silver RSX Type-S with 78 miles on it already, so I look it over... first impressions.
Exterior: Eh. looks ok I guess, not as bad as in pics.
Interior: WTF?!! it has a rubber covered dashboard? what the **** is this? a kia? hmm nope.. it's an acura.. geeeeeeeeez. The seats are better than G3 GS-R's (read: ok, but nothing special) and the steering wheel is nice. It has like 5 cupholders which is about 4 too many IMO. It has a harder to replace head unit made by that shitty company named Bose and has a gay subwoofer in the spare tire. It sounds OK. The A/C controls are worlds above mine. The gauges are pretty ugly.. I'm not a silver gauge face person. Backlighting is red/amber which is nice though. The backseat seems less supportive.. but oh well, the fronts still recline.... more headroom now too.
Hatch: Pretty much looks the same as the G3 teg. no comments.
Brakes: They feel MUCH stronger than the G3 GS-R. Def. improvment here.
Engine: Whoa. It completely lacks power under ~5500 or so. After seeing the engine dyno graph in the brochure it looks like it has less torque than my car has, and not nearly as flat a curve. I was very surprised by the lack of power down low, I mean, even compared to a honda it feels like it has no torque. Above ~5500 is feels pretty good though.
Suspension: Much more neutral then a G3 GS-R, not as harsh either but not really softer either. Overall I like the suspension.
Overall: hmm.. I give it 3.5/5. The G3 GS-R I give 3/5. With some mods the engine might actually feel powerful at low rpms and the brakes and suspension are already above a stock G3 GS-R.
Price: 23,650... hmmmm no thanks, gimme a WRX instead.

yea halo is the type of person who gets happy and giddy when people agree with him
I really don't see anything special in that car(RSX). Also is not such animal as a Type -S, there is no badges on the car that reads "Type S" like the CL. The badge reads "RSX-S". Are we going overboard with this car? I'm so glad I bought my 01 GSR and didn't wait for the RSX. Even that a lot of people say that the body has over 9 years or so. Who cares!!!!!
The way you follow me around, makes you look like even a bigger butt-pirate than you actually are. Go play on your TONKA you bitch[/QUOTE]
why do you thing he's following you around "Halo"? Mr. integra and i are jus reading any posts about the RSX. not to be mean but dont think everything revolves around you.

go check this url. it does say RSX Type S and not RSX-S GSR 2001. in a way i agree with you GSR2001 i think we are goin way overboard with this car, i mean its jus another NEW car from honda.

I don't get it. I went to my dealer today, and asked if I could test drive the new RSX Type-S. THe saleman says "We're not even allowed to show it to you yet, but I'll let you take a peek. No one gets a test drive untill the 11th"
He then goes on asking me if I want to trade in my GSR and buy the RSX Type-S today....weird. I mean..I'm not allowed to test drive it, but I can buy it. Great.

First off, whats with all the member bashing.....lets just settle our differences and enjoy the honda-tech environment. Secondly I went to my acura dealer 2 days ago and they had just rolled the new rsx's off the truck.
I didnt see any type S's but I did have a chance to sit in the base model. And I dont know why nobody likes the seats because they are awsome. I have leather in my gs-r and these seats are supportive yet comfortable. Interior is definitely not as bad as the pictures portray it. Bear in mind that I do not like the rsx, i'm just commenting on its strong points. I'll admit that the look is going to take some time to grow on me. The thing that bothers me most about this car is the front end (300M lookalike) and the civic-like stereo area ( I was very disappointed about this). Then to top it off they discard the Integra name. I think Acura has successfully reached its goal of destroying the previous integras image.
Oh well, I hope the look grows on me just in case they bring the R version here within the next two years
(although this is not likely)

I also went for a test drive in the new RSX Type S today.
My impressions are as follows.
Engine: They didnt let me rag on it since it only had 9 miles on it, and i didnt want to give the owner of this car a messed up engine. So as far as engine goes, im going to have to agree with Dave-ROR.
Steering: The wheel is DAMN NICE, although I do feel that the steering is assisted too much. The car feels much more heavy and solid, this is odd, coming from an R owner.
Creature Comforts: The cupholder/tray is a very neat design and I like it much better than the R's dated interior. The seats feel very supportive and I like how the shifter feels closer to you, a bit like the S2K maybe? The stereo sucked. I tried pumping the bass to hear that subwoofer and didn't succeed. The salesman tried messing with it and ended up sounding worse. So in the stereo department,
Shifting/Clutch: OH MY GOD!! I've never felt anything smoother shift in my life, the throws were damn short and the engagement was beautiful. I was a little hesitant shifting into 6th (just wanted to use that gear because I dont have one
). I thought I was going to break something. You definetly need to give it some unf to get it into 6th, im guessing because its right next to the shiftgate for reverse. I highly suggest that you give this car a test drive it not for anything else.
Suspension: There was a little island near a business district near by and he told me to take it hard on the turns and feel the "Macgayson struts" The car felt pretty good, much better than my friends stock GSR, and maybe on par with the R's handling. Although I do not totally understand the theory behind this suspension setup, I will give credit where it is due. So the RSX -S recieves a
I can't really say anything more except that the car looks like one mean mother from the outside. The one I drove had the underbody spoiler package, the lip from the R version in japan, chrome rims, and a spoiler, and a lower stance than the regular RSX. I was offered 20 thousand for my R on the spot and 24,000 flat + TTL. Very tempting but I'll wait for something better, or perhaps a WRX.

I dunno, I drove one Tuesday at the local dealership (Type-S) and I was totally impressed with the level of refinement it has over the current generation Integra.
Power felt very smooth. Pulled nice to the redline. The engine sounds a lot more refined as well.
The handling was outstanding. With a nice set of coilovers this thing is going to handle like a champ.
About the looks; A lot of people didn't like the current generation Integra (94-01) at first either. I think once someone sees one of the these things lowered with some wheels and nice carbon fiber hood a lot of minds will change on the way it looks.
Just MHO.

i want to test drive the RSX just to see how it is. but if come down to a dealership and they see a "college kid" i might get the "nothing is avaible to test drive" crap. but i think i'll go down this weekend anyways...hehe
my take on the WRX, "it might look like a turkey but it can fly like an eagle."

You're being really mature there...oh ya, and Mr Integra's GSR with intake and header only will blow ur *** away. Guaranteed.
Umm are you sure about that? I have *NEVER* been beaten by a GSR, and if one ever did beat me it better have more than an intake and a header
