Default Modify Apex'i piping!

I got apex'i piping which is 60mm (2.36" i believe). I'm thinking of removing the resonator it came with and just replacing it with a straight pipe. What size pipe should I go with? 2.25" or 2.5"? since those are the only sized the muffler shop carries.. remember, apexi's size is about 2.36"

You can get 2-3/8" tubing, it's not very common but it is available. The problem is that mufflers and resonators aren't available in this size (at least in the US).

Burnsstainless (www.burnsstainless.com) has it available in stainless. Check places like Sumitt racing for availablity of mild steel 2-3/8" as I believe the Apex piping is just painted/coated mild steel.

ok, so from what i can select from at a local muffler shop (2.25" and 2.50"), which out of the 2 should i choose? bigger or small? bigger might lose backpressure? smaller might bottle neck?

damn, its a simple question. would you go with the bigger pipe size or smaller pipe size?

I say the bigger one is better as long as it merges smoothly, think; high flow cat, where as a bottleneck would be worst

btw why remove the resonator? it'll just make it louder, reduce it's resale value, and it's not a big restriction

if you want more flow try a high-flow cat, if you don't already have one

Either one is going to be a compromise and disrupt exhaust flow. I'd go with the bigger 2.5" with smooth transitions between the tubing. They can expand the existing 2.36 tubing to do this, but like Mey_Xanng said, it will make it louder (raspy) and you won't gain much by removing the resonator.

What's the reasoning you are using for removing it?

The reason is because i scraped a hole into the Apex'i resonator so I got a GReddy resonator put on. The muffler shop that did the job did a fucked up *** job by putting the resonator on all crooked. Well, I found a buyer for the GReddy resonator and I dont mind the little increase in the sound because I have a long *** straight-thru muffler quieting my exhaust. So, what size should I go with? 2.25" or 2.5"? by the way, I also have a testpipe.

dont do either..both will ruin it...

if u realy want it gone, get the 2.25, BUT get someone to pipe expand it to the correct size
