Default Understanding the fuel Output Lvl of aftermarket fuel injectors

I have been working on cars since i was a little kid, i know how to change injectors, and even how to tell what size injector i need when upgrading. But i only know the surface of injectors, i know how they work, but i want to know in depth how to read and understand the ouput lvl of aftermarket injectors, when i read 400cc's or 440cc's, what does that mean, when i read that an injector has a 10% increase, what does that mean? The reason i want to know, is i am a type of person that i think if your gonna work on something, you should know everything about it, well i need to know about this before i work on anymore, please help.
