Default Intercooler Mounting....Are You Bolting It Up

I have beautiful PWR intercooler that I bought from nineseccrx (Great Seller by the way) and I am wanting to know how some of you are mounting your custom intercoolers. Are you guys having brackets welded on then bolting them to the chassis brace or somewhere else? Just wanting to get some ideas on the best way to mount this thing. I just don't feel safe using only the intercooler pipes. If you have pictures of your custom mounting, I would like to see.

This is on a 92 Civic Si by the way.

Thanks in advance.

what about mounting it to the cooler... did you weld on some tabs or what to bolt it up.

Here are some of the things that I did. The top of the intercooler came with tabs, and as you can see in the pics, I made some (a friend) made some little holders to support the intercooler and welded it to my car.

Mine is bolted to the bumper support with brackets made out of flatbar(bumper support was cut beforehand to fit my bumper, then the bumper was later trimmed to fit the ic).

I had 2 aluminum cylinders welded to the top of the IC to match the two holes in the bumper support, slipped bolts throught the top of the holes and tightened it down. Works awesome.

I removed the front cross member all together, and welded support brackets on the bottom of the intercooler to catch the lower frame. I used the two tabs that were already welded onto the top of the intercooler and make special brackets that went through existing bumper support holes.

Engine vibration, riding on bumps, can make the brackets eat through the aluminum IC.
Put something soft under the IC.

If you look closely, there is a foam padding.

i mounted mine to my bumper support, i had brackets welded to the ic, and then underneath it we made some other custom brackets to pull it closer to the car at the bottom . . . . not as nice as above though

Made some aluminum brackets to mount to the tabs, then bolted the bracket up, works great

That looks real nice, but you know if you ever get into a front end accident, you can kiss your i/c , turbo, manifold all good bye depending on how hard the impact is because the purpose of that front bumper support that you took off is to protect you from front end collisions.

No, I never said that it would prevent the front end from crumbling, just that it REDUCES any serious injury or damages that may happen!
