not even a b18b, because u need the moutn kit, linkage, thats $600 right there.
i would say sohc vtec, or zc, which im not really a fan of based on the parts list is of so many different motors

If you want a motor that drops in with no extra vtec wiring or anything, ZC. Are you a pretty good mechanic? Done swaps before?

Or you could always save up another grand for the B16.

Werd. Get a junkyard a6 and build the crap out of it. You could have a pretty serious all motor setup for 1k.

Never underestimate the power of the B20. Smack some cams on there and your cooking with steam.

With your budget I would say SOHC VTEC and save whats left for a TURBO. I have a LSVTEC my self but I have a friend that rapes my *** off the line with a SOHC vtec turbo and he has less $ in his setup than I do.

B18A and then either turbo it or vtec head it later . I have a B18A I got in trade for swap labor. I got the whole swap for my labor. I am putting it in my '90 Civic. I got AZRacemachine.com mounts, for 325.00. I am cutting the linkage for the shifter. After Water pump and timming belt still under $500.00 More to save for mods. I could put it in right now, but I want mad power. It is getting sleaved, ported/built B16 head and turboed. My budget is a little higher though, it is an all costs race motor. If you can get one cheap enough, It will be the best and most buildable.

I would say a zc,unless you can get a good deal on some mounts for a ls and a good deal on a ls, thats what I did, I got a ls for 600, and some mounts for 500(place racing), just a little over there.

Buy some mounts, then buy my friends B18A for $400 (you have to come get it though). He'll sell you everything except maybe the ECU for that price, and probably let you take most of the rest of the car as it's tieing up his extra garage bay. He has all paperwork for the car. He won't let you take the rear trailing arms.

$400 for motor, trans, axels, etc.
$350 for a marginal mount kit
$ 25 to get his linkage shortened.
$ 85 for an ECU.
$???? for other crap that is sure to come up.
