today i got around to taking my old block apart...thought everyone would be interested to see what water can do to a motor...

yes, for those who haven't seen my other posts...
i just bought a brand new ITR head and brand new ITR bottom end from "bert-o" on this board...as he works at gettel acura.
so yes, the b16a is old news, i wanted to make more power anyway!

i'm not convinced a bypass valve would have worked in this case.
the intake ingested a lot of water...enough of which would have bypassed the bypass valve.
now this is just my feeling on it...but i can't see the bypass valve being affective with a large quantity of water...

ICEMAN CAI
was raining kinda hard...i did hit a larger puddle...just splashed water up and around the filter itself...i've driven in heavy rain for a while (i am in florida where we get hit all the time with crazy thunderstorms) and never had anything like this happen.
i am just going to use two intakes from now on.
one for dry weather, one for wet weather.

i'm going to use the ICEMAN again...and just switch to a short ram intake during times of rain...
just be careful, no cold air intake is ever going to work 100% of the time...
and if you do hit a large puddle, push in the clutch and turn the car off and put it in neutral...and take out the spark plugs and turn the engine over...
i had gone over the same road many times...and just underestimated the depth of the puddle...
plus i hit it at 20mph...which swirled water around and just hit the filter the right (or wrong) way.

I guess your right about it not being 100% effective.
I think Comptech should change what their website says, "Pick up cool air behind turn signal. Won't suck up water!." In you case, it did!
