Lightweight rear LCA's Available for the Type-R soon . . . .
The Hybrid Garage has just produced a rear lower control arm for the EG that weighs 1.5 lbs and made from machined aluminum. There is a thread here that you can read about it at. Before you go there let me preface it with there is a lot of skepticism and fighting in the thread. A lot of people missed the point about the fact it is a quality part and produced by one of the most upstanding shops I know of (Read story below). They were more worried about whether it was a sales pitch and about what color it was. I say that and will ask everyone take a look at it and disregard the crap the kids are fighting about.

To keep it on topic and related to my title I just got done Measuring some parts off my R for them to finish up the design for the Type-R rear LCA made from machined aluminum.
Quick Story about how I met Adrian and Dawn Teo and became familiar with the Hybrid Garage.
Everyone should remember my clutch fiasco with the Exedy and *** Imports (Who I didn't even buy it from). I purchased the Exedy Organic from Clutch City Online. Clutch City didn't want to warranty my clutch at first even after I paid to ship it to them. Dawn from the Hybrid Garage contacted me at Adrian's request and asked if they could warranty my clutch for me. I had not bought ti there and they only sort of knew who I was cause I bought a high flow carsound cat from them. I called Dawn and thanked her but at that point the Clutch thread had gotten so much Attention Clutch City and Exedy were both aware of it and Clutch City warrantied about 90% of my costs so I figured that was fair enough. I asked then why they wanted to warranty my clutch and they said that the customer service we receive in the import scene is sub par and they hate to see people treated like I was being treated. Since then I have stayed in touch with them just because people like that don't come around often. I can think of one other person we all know in the R community that treats people like this and that would be Andie Lin of Cobalt Friction. These guys are
That said I will be happy to provide more info about the R LCAs as it becomes available but I figured I would let intelligent, performance minded people see what they were up too and give some useful feedback.

Do they make any that look stock, but weigh less?
I see no point in it being shiny or looking non-stock.
Will it come with hard (solid?) bushings pressed in?

i was waitin on when those would come out. at http://www.specprod.com they have the rear LCA's for integras, except the R. but they are expensive as hail.

It will be interesting to see what they machine. Possible dual version of the picture LCA, allowing for cross support and the width of the ITR LCA. Wouldnt be a fan of having to take off the LCA to do the camber, much simpler to just use an upper camber kit. I guess the weight reduction arguement can be made with regards to unsprung suspension weight, so it would factor in as more wouldnt it?
how is the fitment?? i have an aftermarket exhaust (T1R) and it hits on the OEM LCA....will this be the exact size of the OEM or will it be designed to angle a little bit different?? if you get my menaing....

We can definitely pose this issue to them and see if changes can be made.
I will ask about price and release. I know they are close on making some so just need to see if the small changes are almost done. They were working on making them as strong as possible with the measurements i gave him so we shall see.

My thoughts exactly. The upper locator arm camber adj. is probably a simpler solution. Also this part(type R) will definatley weight more than the 1.5lb. billet part for the civic/'teg. I'm still very anxious to see the outcome...

Not disagreeing on the camber part at this point but trying not to judge that feature as I have not seen it. I have SRR uper arms and they are cake to adjust. We shall see how things look soon.

Ok, here are the 4 main questions I got answered.
Q: When will they be availavle
A: Could have a few sets as early as next week.
Q: How much will they cost.
A: Hope to have them sub $250
Q: How much will they weigh?
A: just abouve 1kg (2.2 lbs)
Q: Is the material forged?
A: They start out with forged 7075 billet aluminum bars that are about 3" x 3" in cross section

These look good. I'm considering getting some.
According to the other thread, these will be stronger than the stock LCAs. Has HybridGarage performed any stress-strain tests to determine how much stronger they are than stock? What about torsion tests?
I saw the one deflection picture, but what do those numbers translate to?
Also, I'm a little unclear on how to adjust the camber with this LCA.

Just realized those LCA's can be anodized since they're aluminum right? They would look quite OEM in a black anodization.

sure they can...although when mine arrive next week, they will be own3d by bbq grill paint.
nick, who could make these at work...but that price is pretty good, relative to the time i would have to commit to the project.
btw, nicest people i have ever dealt with on any phone order to date...And I do that every day.
