Default whats the real deal with lightened crank pulleys????

So could anybody tell me if a lightened underdrive pulley makes any difference from there own experience. I hear a bunch of stuff from everybody; some say they do offer pretty good gains, some say they dont make any difference, some say will mess up your crank after a while. dont know what to believe. please enlighten me.

i had an unorthodox pulley on my b16a for a few months....did notice improvement in throttle response and quicker revs......but i spun a bearing and threw a rod last month....coincidence? maybe, maybe not... i got my pulley for free but i wouldn't put it back on my next motor

I dont think its a cowinicedence (sp?) . If you spin a motor with no harmonic balancer to 8 grand its gona vibrate the **** out of the crank.

I agree, I will absolutely NOT run an unorthodox pulley for anything... They do destroy bearings and Honda made them heavy for a reason...

That being the case, since the oil pump is also affected by the vibration, I would NOT re-use it either... The stock pumps are sintered material (metal dust molded with heat/pressure) and don't sit still for much of a beating.

It doesn't matter how heavy the pulley is, the stock pulley has a outer peace and inner peace joined by rubber which dampens the vibrations. The N1 is essentially a stock pulley with the power steering and AC rings cut off and it has the rubber inside so its just as safe as the stock one but about half the weight. I'm planning to get an N1 my self.
