Default First try of the Kumho V700... :)))))

Wow! Last night I went at a local track where the do free lapping session 20$/20 minutes... Since my first R, I always used my street tires to go to the track! The RE-010 is a good tire but I got tired of killing them on the track and having to get a new set at the end of every summer... So after few posts here, I've decided to get a set of Kumho and a set of ITR wheels!

I took a few laps to heat them up and them I started to push the car a bit... The tires were taking the beating no problem... S**t! Ok, this is too good to be true! More gas, more late braking... No problem! Now the problem is that I'm not used to go so fast... And I'm scarred lol Before the limit was the tires... Now it's me!

Why did I wait so long before getting these tires?

BTW, track time went from 1:08 to 1:05!

P.S. I've consider the Yoko A032R, the Toyo RA1 and the Kumho V700 before buying them! Most people gave the Kumho a little edge over the other 2! Since I didn't want to play with negative camber the Hoosier and the BF were out of the wish list...

V700 Victoracer is the one I use!

The Ecsta V700 seems to be a new one... No price or threadwear is available! It looks like it's a track tire too... Anyone who have tried it yet???

they are okay to get to and from events, but I wouldn't use this for daily driving. Even the smallest rocks tend to chew up the tires

is the stock size (195/55/R15's) good for aftermarket tires? such as the V700? or whatever. Also when getting tires for track/ auto-x use, is it better to just get the front 2 or to replace all four?

Any good tires in the 16" size either 205/45/16 or 215/45/16 that are good for the track and daily driving? Better yet, any R compound tires in this size? It seems like there are more R compound tires for the 15" wheels.

There are definitely more choices in 15"!

I'd appreciate some input from 16" R-compound users, too.

I know some people use 225-50-16 in R sizes. Do you feel the compromise in the sidewall height, or is it a good choice?
George! Do we need to have that little discussion again about r compounds too early? I'm telling you from first hand, expensive, spudknocker experience here. The light went on over my head when I noticed some guys running FAST on street tires. That's when I realized, hey, I'm a spudknocker. So I went back to street tires for almost 2 years and fixed things.

The ITR is so fast in stock form, even on the stock RE0CRAP0's, you won't believe what it can really do. Trust me! Remember that little Civic EG? Todd was running mud and snow rated tires, but he drives incredibly well. Mud and snow rated tires, underpowered, overheating car (he has to run the heater), and he's turning 1:34 - 1:36's out there.
