i want to up the boost on my jrsc to 10psi instead of 6psi. from my understanding i need to get bigger injectors. so can i use some stock 97+ prelude injectors and
be fine or will i need to get the rc 310cc injectors?

Prelude's are only like 270cc. I guess since your are running an FMU they would be "ok" but I think with running 10psi and stock fuel pressure those are gonna be close to max duty cycle. I would get 310cc personally and tune atleast VAFC hack at a minium. You are just gonna be running richer and richer.

 

5th gen prelude are 290cc not 270cc I sold mine and they test to 286cc flow.

 

You can use the Lude injectors (the 97+ are saturated), but you will also need a new FMU. The JR FMU is fixed at a 5:1 rise rate. 5:1 is the rise rate for stock injectors.

This type of upgrade is very old skool. With all that is available now, you should really consider doing something that will offer you a little more control and flexibility like the VAFC hack or the SMC+ or better yet, a Hondata if you've got the money.

After you factor in the cost of injectors plus the cost of another FMU, the SMC in particular is an attractive option. It wasn't available when I did my JRSC boost upgrade, so I ended up buying a Cartech FMU. Just say NO to FMU's.

The 96 and earlier Preludes have peak-and-hold (low impedance) injectors. All 92+ Civics/Integras use saturated injectors. All 97+ Accords/Preludes also use saturated injectors. You can put peak-and-hold injectors in a system designed for saturated injectors by installing the factory resistor box that came in the 91 and earlier Civics/Integras. (see my sig for details)

If you're gonna get larger injectors, get something bigger than 310's. Those aren't really big enough to support a lot of boost and you'll max them out fairly quick.

Here are some of your options for fuel upgrades:

1) RC440cc injectors + SMC (cost = about 350; easiest + good fuel control)
2) DSM450's + my resistor box kit + SMC (cost = about 200; cheapest + good fuel control)
3) RC310 + Cartech FMU (cost = about 425; expensive + lousy fuel control)
4) Hondata + big injectors (cost = 1000ish; very expensive + complete fuel control)

FMU's are old skool and they suck because they offer you no control over your fuel curve and force you to run crazy high fuel pressure. With what we have available to us now, FMU's really don't make sense any more.

The SMC works by manipulating the voltage that the ECU sees from the MAP sensor. The output of the MAP sensor has a direct effect on how long the injectors are held open. By playing with that voltage, you can run big injectors on the stock ECU.

IMO, option #2 is the best and I'm not saying that just because I sell resistor box kits. It is the cheapest and by setting your car up to run peak-and-hold (low impedance) injectors, any future upgrades are a drop-in affair. 440cc is the largest saturated (high impedance) injector that you can get.

I did the FMU upgrade BS back when the SMC/VAFC hack etc were not yet around. I think the SMC and equivalents are nice stepping stone between FMU and standalone.

I never said that they didn't. I said that 97 and later Accords use saturated.

It can't be the 97 and later injectors are saturated cause that means that the 97 Accord injectors are saturated which is wrong

What you should say is the 98+ Accords are saturated
