Default To coil over or not to coil over? That's my question.

I'm looking into buying new springs for my 90 Civic Hatch and I'm wondering about Coil Overs. I know the benefits, but I just don't know which ones are better and why. I've heard about Ground Control, but their collers are a little annoying and they don't have a wide range of shock or spring selection. Skunk2 is decent, but I'm told that you're paying for the name. And what about Weapon R? I see a lot of people using those. So please give me any advice on these and any suggestions of other brands and maybe a good place to pick them up. Thanks! Davey

It's funny you mention GC's as a pain- they are the only one that you can adjust with one hand, supposedly. They come in a very wide range of springs for whatever you have- engine swap, want to drag, etc. just call them, they can set you up with whatever needs you have.
I have skunk2's with AGX shocks, and the ride is too bouncy, IMO. My buddy has neuspeed sports on his Si and the ride is great. they lower the car, and make it handle VERY nicely without the sacrifice of the rough ride. Their springs are progressively wound which gives you more stock-like ride quality..
I may be getting rid of my Skunk2s for a nice set of Neuspeed springs, cux I'll never adjust the height of my car once it gets set, so the benefits of coilovers are not there for me. Wanna buy a nice set of barely used Skunk2's? LOL
Edit: I probably should say it depends a lot on where you live. If you live where the roads get bad in the winter, and springtime = potholes like me, then I'd go with a set of just springs for quality of ride. If you live in Cali or someplace where the roads are smooth all the time, you'll probably be all set with coils. Just some food for a thought.

That ground control one hand thing is the biggest pile of **** ever. I own ground controls and absolutly love them but there is no way you can adjust them like they advertise. I've been through 3 engine swaps in this shell and each sat different because of the different amount of weight and header clearance, each time my GC's saved me and put me at the ride height I wanted. I've only ran in a crx with knock off coilovers to compare to but mine were like night and day compared to it.

it really depends on what you are doing with the honda...street, drag or weekend autocross or track. i went through 3 different set ups on my teg being a street car before i was happy. the S2 coilovers were really stiff and bouncy on the teg... 500 lbs per sq in front and 400 lbs rear and on my b16a crx they are 400 lbs front and 300 lbs rear. i still the S2 coilovers on my crx because it's a lapping/ track day car but the tociko adjustables barely have enough dampining for their spring rate, it's a tiny bit bouncy (i think i should have gotten koni yellows). now on the teg im running a true 1pc coil over with 350 lbs ea front and 250 lbs ea rear (really close to the rate of the stock type-r) and that has a great ride and performs fairly well with a sticky tire. what i would do if i were doing it over again on either car would be most likely be any brand coil over choosing the sping rate (my preferance would be GC) and just a really good adjustable shock. you will notice far more the differance in ride between spring rates than the manufacture of the springs. S2 and GC have far different rates.

Skunk 2's are a great Coilover and imo Agx's are a great strut. But the Skunks spring rates are to stiff for the Agx's, thus the bounce.

Go with Koni yellows or G.C.'s
