Default d16y8 owners: main/rod bearing failiure?

how true are these rumors that they are more prone to failiure then a Z6. does this eliminate it from being a good swap candidate? i got a pretty good deal on a y8 and might pick it up this weekend, but from what ive read, id be better going with the Z6. any feedback?

Any engine is prone to that depending on how hard the driver drives, how it was previuosly maintained(oil), etc.

I'd go for it
even if the engine blows up, you could part that engine for more than 300 bucks

I had a y8 spin a rod bearing on me, but it was MUCH abusive driving. Previous owner had a turbo kit, I put it thru nitrous. blah blah. Then it just spun a rod bearing one day.

Convert it to the correct OBD, then reap the benefits of vtec.

you can't really go wrong for $300 w/ that few miles. that's cheaper than an exhaust.
