d16y8 owners: main/rod bearing failiure?

how true are these rumors that they are more prone to failiure then a Z6. does this eliminate it from being a good swap candidate? i got a pretty good deal on a y8 and might pick it up this weekend, but from what ive read, id be better going with the Z6. any feedback?

cool. do you guys think $300 for a d16y8 with 35-40k including everything minus tranny is a good deal?
I'd go for it
even if the engine blows up, you could part that engine for more than 300 bucks
I had a y8 spin a rod bearing on me, but it was MUCH abusive driving. Previous owner had a turbo kit, I put it thru nitrous. blah blah. Then it just spun a rod bearing one day.
