Default Whats a test pipe?

Im new to everything. I dont know a thing about cars let alone race cars. I hear test pipe alot here. Such as n1 test pipe. But I dont have a clue as to what they are. Is this some kind of muffler?

it's a pipe, just a pipe that people put in place of the catalytic converter.

yup, just a pipe with flanges on the end so it bolts up....got one sitting in my garage if anyone wants it (custom). Do I hear $40....i dunno what they go for...

it's that thing right before your exhaust begins. it removes toxins from entering the atmosphere making your car able to pass emissions testing. oh and so your car doesn't pollute as much either. btw, test pipes are illegal in most places.

The catalytic converter is the piece on your exhaust between your headers and your muffler. if you get under the car it sits about even with the doors. it's about a foot or so long and it is mostly for emissions, pulls out gases caused by the combustion in your engine so it doesn't hurt the atmosphere. people put on a test pipe to decrease backpressure and ensure better flow through the exhaust.
