Default What exhaust should I get for my '88' CRX Si

Please help, my first after market Pacesetter exhaust worked ok but it has now rusted to hell. I want to get something of stainless steel and of a sporty look. Thanks in advance.

Just asking, but how was that pacesetter exhaust(with Monza tips right?) you had? was it quiet or was it a loud droning while driving? i'm having the same problem as yourself, i'm looking for a dual tip exhaust from Greddy( which they don't make anymore) for my 89 CRX Si. good luck in finding a nice exhaust..

My brother's looking for one for his '89 CRX Si, and so far it looks like he's going with Magnaflow. It's stainless steel, and comes with a lifetime warranty... and plus it's not a huge fartpipe. The guy at the muffler shop (independent shop, VERY nice and knowledgeable guy) says all his Magnaflow customers have been very satisfied. He also recommended against buying any Bosal products, as the finish on them is terrible... I second the motion. My Bosal Brospeed exhaust rusted out and fell off in about a year and a half (stainless steel).

Hey this is right up my alley, i had a pacesetter exhaust as well in my 91 crx. I didnt have cash andi needed to pass emissions so i had to get a cheapie, or well thats the story im sticking to. Asides from the fact that this exhaust sucks big time and it rusted to hell and the tip fell off, it actually sounds pretty ok, its loud all the time but it sounds a hell of a lot better than those universal exhausts that sound like trumpets or farts. It has a nice deep tone to it. I just got my 5zigen fireball, i will still be using the catback pipes from the pacesetter, they all look rust free and are powdercoated plus its 2.5 so screw paying for custom pipes. the 5zigen comes axle back and then you can just have a flange welded on so you can just bolt it up to look stock.

Check out Powertone, i bought 1 for my EF hb 3 yrs ago & it still has a good shine- i hardly clean it but 1x every other month. It is light, not annoyingly whinny like Greddy or Trust, and about $150-250 for muffler alone. It is hexagonal shape, but they also make a nice oval shiny type, and the canister style. The tone is sweet, & i was pulled over twice just cuz the cop had never seen that type of muffler. It is made in USA, Upland California i think. Save that $$$.

Default Go Thermal

Thermal Research and Development. Sure they're a little big on thier tips 4", but they sound good, last a long time, and are built pretty damn nice for the money. The tip is really nice too. I wish they made something with smaller daul tips that were still shaped like the big one. Either way, I've had my thermal for about 3 years and I love it.

Got Thermal Research on my 91 Si....Really sweet...Nice sound, does not sound like a buzzy horn.
Deeper sound, sorta quiet till I knocked my cat out. Stainless, NEVER rust....Looks VERY nice.......
Very easy install...........20 minutes and i was done...... granted my bolts came undone with no torch.

Hope this helps........

thermal is high quality
greddy?? according to my greddy book they still have a crx cat-back, it is now called the mx series and has 60mm pipng instead of 50mm.
tanabe has nice exhausts as well
you do not have to go stainless steal to have an exhaust that lasts, yeah i am sure it helps, but pacesetter/monza are known for not lasting more than a year. they are extremely low quality. think about it, the exhaust costs around a $100-$200. you get what you pay for.

You can also get the tanabe racing medallion you know. It came out for crx's and its a complete cat back system.

The pacesetter exhaust really doesnt last very long, and i would highly reccomend against it, it is a crappy exhaust. Mines lasted me about 1 year and right now its still on my car but it looks terrible, the tip rusted out and the pipe leading to it is all full of holes. Get stainless steel, dont cheap out on an exhaust, trust me do it right the first time and you will have an exhaust that may even outlast your car.
