Getting on to the highway I kind of got on the throttle. Once I went into fifth gear I grinded and it wnet back to neutral. I don't know if it popped then or when I put it back into 5th which was immediately after it grinded/went back to neutral.
It seems as if the shift **** sits real far back in 2nd and 4th gear now. Almost close to touching the panel that surrounds the shifter. Also, at higher RPM's in the shift **** it feels as if it's vibrating a lot more or very small grinding is taking place. In 5th gear the shifter seems to be moving a lot more than it has for the past 2 weeks I've driven the car. Is it most likely the shift linkage is screwed.
The "POP" almost sounded like a loud back-fire from the exhaust, but I'm thinking something may have broke loose and hit the ground and then slamming into the car....
Thanks for any help.
I'm about to head outside and take a look underneath to see if anything looks different / broke.
Eg / GSR Hybrid
Took a look: I just went under the car and the 2 bolts that hold the damn shift linkage at the rear where the gear shift enters the car are missing. The damn thing is resting on the exhaust piping
I guess those bolts were not tightened down all the way
Does anyone know the length or measurement of those bolts? I'm going to see if my civic shift linkage has the bolts.
That exlpains why the shifter seems out of position and come to think of it seems like I have a short shifter installed
Think I fixed it: I ended up finding two bolts in my nuts & bolts bag that worked and everything is back in place. I'm guessing the loud "POP" was the shift linkage slamming down into the exhaust piping
I took pics but don't think I need to post them

Good job...lesson here is always no matter how small or large the project have a second set of eyes look over your work.
Please dont think I am dissing you but my experience as a Jet mech. has instilled this in me. Just the other day we were swapping a itr in a 5th gen civic and I almost forgot to tighten down the axle nut lol.
When you get close to finishing a major project gliss and glee start taking over.
