Need help on whether I should still get an S2000...
Ok, I've wanted an S2000 since they came out, but could never afford it. I loved my dads even stock, but I actually test drove the 350Z track model yesterday and I love the torque and acceleration. Any suggestions on pros and cons of each of these. I know I'm in the S2000 section, but just stay with the facts and add in personal prefferences if you want. Thanks in advance.
They actually let you drive it? Around here they are ******** about it. They wouldnt let me drive it til my financing was approved and they had my down payment. I just walked out. As for the car, there is alot of discussion on this at s2ki.com. The consensus seems to be that the 350Z is easier to launch and get going fast, but the s2k will out handle it. I imagine the S2k will hold its value alot better as it isn't overly produced. I wish they would have let me drive it...
I am actually surprised too. I met two salesmen there that were around my age (early to mid 20's) that loved the car and I got an excellent deal at Honda for the new 03 for 34000 out the door and 33000 for the 02 brand new out the door. He also wanted to drive it agin so he took it for half a test drive and he let me let it out on a semi-curvy street. Handling is not as bad and acceleration is incredible. Honda wouldn't let me touch the S2000. He said " they don't let people drive this for liability reasons and mileage", but he was cool about it. I turned off the VDC on the track model and it tripped gears great, not just a chirp.
The Honda re-sale is also higher and I think the S2000 will out handle the Z, but the handling was also pretty nice. From the price I got for the S2000, it seemed like a better deal cause they said the Z will be around 36 to 38000 out the door. Hahah, for once the S2000 is the better deal in its class. I had no intentions on the Z till I drove it.
for both cars.

I'd go to another Honda dealership then...they were happy to let me drive it. THen they let my 2 buddies drive it when I told them that I valued their opinions and would not buy with out them.

you're going to buy a car based on what other people think??
if i could go back, i would have bought the 350z... i'm getting tired of my S2K, i'd rather own a stronger, meaner looking coupe....
</TD></TR></TABLE>
FYI about the Z...Wait till next model year to buy one. I have heard a lot of stories like the tires wearing out before 2000 miles because of alignment issues I assume. Check out my350z.com for info on the problems and maintenance issues. A guy from that site told me it is already a mile long list. Plus...I've raced them and most drivers have a hard time beating the S in a Z by 3rd gear everything is close to even. The rarity of the S is also a great factor. Within the next year and a half there will be more Z's on the road that S2000s and after that the numbers will just keep getting bigger.

BTW, I was always wondering - Which car is God's gift to the automotive world?

9000+ units/year is rare...
Last time I checked, Honda sold over 400,000 Accords last year.

Pick the car with a lower production number -- because it must be better.

I'm not acting as if it is gods gift to the automotive world. I was just giving my opinion. I like being the only S2000 driver around my town. There are plenty of corvettes, camaros, mustangs and even Z cars...but only a few S2000's that gains a lot of looks and whoas from people. Besides you show your own intelligence by your words my friend...return to the playground now school is out.

Well if not then I apologize...but you did post right after me and refer to what I said...so I put 2+2 together and assumed you were talking about my post. Like I said...if not then I apologize
My personal opinion is that the S2000 styling is more in sync with its purpose. The 350z will age faster than the S2000 timeless design.

Hahah, it wouldn't matter Tanman cause you have an NSX to fall back on. I just remebered that the Z is a new car and there are always more quircks and bugs typically with Nissan, besides there is no sunroof even. The roadster looks too big to be that way. I believe I will go for the S2K, but is there any recalls for 2003?
Well you should really get a test drive in an S2000 before you make up your mind. Look for a used one at a dealer or in the paper. They shouldn't give you any mileage BS about a used one. Personally, I don't really like the way the Z's look. I'm sure they are great cars (maybe I'll go test drive one today) but I still prefer the S2000. (Yes, that's a pretty biased statement!)
BTW, God's gift to the automotive world is quite obviously the Ferrari F50.

I think it depends on what you're looking for
Alot of people compare these two cars, nut they are in different classes
one is a convertible roadster
the Z is a coupe
the S is a 2 seater, the Z has a back seat
my girlfriend wanted the Z
we checked it out
I thought the interior was a little cheesy, with the Z's all over the place
and whats up with that bar in the rear hatch, that pretty much makes the rear useless in terms of space
I think it's a really good looking car, but only in certain colors
I think I would go for the G35 coupe
instead of the 350Z
I love my S2000 though
but that Z is really mean looking in Black

yea everything is a rave, chrome *****, futuristic interior <-- these might seem to look good at first, like a widebody kit or giant wing, but gets cheeeeesy afterwards

Yeah I asked them if it was possible to get it de-badged from the factory, ahahha. Looks like a Captain Save a Hoe still emblem. I guess I'm pretty stuck on the S because it's sleek and I can't get past the love for vtec. Yeah it's not as strong, but I thought if I wanted more power then I'd get something stronger than that. Plus I really want a convertible and the Z roadster doesn't really cut it.
