on the firewall, there is the master cylinder mounted to the brake booster. The brake fluid resevoir is located directly on top of that cylinder.
As to your pedal difference, bleed the lines thoroughly to restore pressure.

Also, it will take at least 50 miles or so for the new ones to "break-in" ...at least for the EBC's. Also when you press the piston back into the caliperto fit the new pads in- fluid leaks out the master cylnder. Check to make sure it is at least a 1/2inch below max. Because too much pressure from being too full, can cause the breaks to "constantly be on" from the piston being pressed by the pressure of the fluid.

i have the same type of problem i have jus installed steal lines and crossed drilled and slotted rotors after we bleed the brakes it still goes half way down and then starts to stop im guessin i need a new master cylinder while the car was off the brakes were really stiff how i want them thjough when i turned the car on it was back to the 1/2 way down thing i dunno
happened with mine also. The culprit was air in the lines. I installed speed bleeders that didnt work very well. So without checking the lines, i replaced the master cylinder. Came out with the same problem I originally had in the beginning. After bleeding the **** out of it, my problem was solved.

What type of brake fluid are you supposed to use? I know there are a few different kinds.( like ratings or something DOT3 /DOT4? ) I have a 99 civic. I have to bleed my brakes today, and I 'll need more fluid.
