i put a b16 in my 4 door civic and for some reason, it doesnt want to go into reverse...we can't even find a reverse...usually where it's at makes it go into 4th gear...need some advice on that...i even have the hasport shift linkage.................also, my car is overheating..any ideas, thermostat maybe??? let me know................and lastly, when i turn on my lights, my car dies, but if i turn them off right before it dies, it keeps running..could it be a bad ground somewhere....please help me with this...........thanks

First thing that always helps people out on here is to tell them if the check engine light is on. because one little problem can cause many others, and the CEL is a good starting point to find the most serious problem and fix that first, which might fix your other problems.
As for tranny.. if there is no reverse.. I don't know what to tell you besides for drop the tranny and buy the necessary parts so you have it.

-- why do you have a HASport shift linkage? You should just be using a 94+ integra shift linkage. This could be your problem. The other thing could be your clutch. Did you put a new clutch in or use the existing-used b16 clutch that came with your engine? on the disc, the area around the springs tend to break after long use; and once this happens it becomse difficult to shift into gears. It happened to me long ago. Lastly, it just might be your tranny's reverse is going out....but thats worse case scenerio.

-- try bleeding your coolant system first ie. make sure there is no air in your cooling system otherwise you get the overheating/needle rises to red H effect. If you car still gets hot afer rebleeding the coolant system, try a new thermostat.

-- yes, could be a ground, could also be a bad battery. Check your grounds though.

well are you grounding your battery like it should be grounded ? or are making up your own battery grounding rules?lol

i was just told that your engine should be grouned to your firewall, i didn't think it really mattered, but the person said that your engine needs to be grounded somewhere, not to itself....i don't know, hopefully i'll figure it out

for the shift linkage, i didn't know anything about the whole 94+ teggy linkage, i was told this is the linkage that i need, and also, i did replace the clutch with a stage 2 racing clutch. i talked to hmotorsonline, and they talked to hasport about the shifting, and they said they think it's because i drilled out my stock stabalizer bushing and wrapped tape around the outside to make it fit over the spot where it goes....i got a 90 integra bushing, so i'm yet to try that too. For the coolant system, i decided to replace the thermostat and i'm yet to try it....

-- well, now you know. GET ONE. you don't need the HASPORT linkage at all since you own an EG civic. Honda makes a linkage for the EG civic w/b-series engine and that linkage IS the 94-00 integra shift linkage. Just as a rule of thumb for you, when going B-series in any EG civic use 94-00 integra motor mounts, shift linkage, axles, (sometimes engine harness, depends tho), and ecu (depending on the engine). You can also use a few mounts & shfit linkage from a 99+ Si coupe.

-- omg. hah! now it reeeeeeeally sounds like you need a 94+ integra linkage! whatta frikkin mess. I totally think your linkage is the culprit now.
