i put a b16 in my 4 door civic and for some reason, it doesnt want to go into reverse...we can't even find a reverse...usually where it's at makes it go into 4th gear...need some advice on that...i even have the hasport shift linkage.................also, my car is overheating..any ideas, thermostat maybe??? let me know................and lastly, when i turn on my lights, my car dies, but if i turn them off right before it dies, it keeps running..could it be a bad ground somewhere....please help me with this...........thanks

 

The lights defiantly sounds like a bad ground, as far as not finding reverse. Maybe try putting it in first then reverse.

 

Check your voltage output at idle... I have roughly 14 volts at idle on the voltmeter with the lights off, and about 13.5 with the lights on, and down to about 12.5-13 volts with the brakes on.

 

i tried the whole going into 1st, then reverse, and it doesn't work, someone told me that the shift linkage might be too short, since i have a 4 door and most people do these swaps in a hatch or crx
