Nice 1st post...... .....
well, it's ok to get a kit. i don't like all kits, but some look OK.
of course, it will definetely be annoying when driving, cuz you have to be careful when going on dips and speedbumps, and chipping the paint, and all that stuff. especially when lowering it too..
also, the invader kit for preludes is kinda played out and doesn't look that good IMO.
try checking out the Mugen kit or a replica mugen kit.
if i had the money to buy a full kit: sideskirts, frt bumper, rear bumper
(let's say $800), i wouldn't buy a kit. if i were you, i would just use it on performance bolt-ons (intake, exhaust, headers, etc..) or something else.
if you really want to make your car look cool, i would suggest going with a Carbon Fiber Front Lip fro VIS or some other company. those look good.
but, it's ur money and your car, so good luck.

I agree, however, in honda-tech, ive realized, it's a very biased group of lude drivers, ie, more into tech than show. Just keep in mind that in here, you wont get much support to get an invader front, etc etc, but it doesn't mean that you wont like it, and doesn't mean the bitches won't either. So like he said, your money, your car, and your the one that's gonna be looking at it. As far as breaking, just drive carefully, in actuality, almost NO mod is practical, but we all still love modding anyway.

I say do want you want to the car, cause one Its your car. If you think it looks good then Fu*k what other people say. But in my opinion i don't like body kits unless they came from the factory or maybe even just a front lip. just my 2 cents

welcome:

i am part of the minority on this board who LIKE bodykits as long as they are installed properly. Like an alarm, the best has to do with the installation. first and foremost, find a reputable body shop that you trust and does good work. that will make the difference as to whether ANY body kit looks good or not. that being said, the invader kit is played out. be careful of cheap knockoffs because what you save in purchasing the kit will be more than made up with in shop costs. Poor fiting kits can be a nightmare for the body shop and your wallet! i'm looking into the r33 myself but may just stick with stock and cf lip. Reason, i enjoy being lowered and don't like the idea of having to be paranoid over every speed bump and driveway i encounter. But at the same time, i will be FI shorty and need to fit a decently sized i/c which may rule out the stock bumper.

I had a kit, only lasted like 3 or 4 months before the front bumper basically fell apart. They may look nice in the begining but after some time it will look like crap. Now I just plan on either leaving it stock or getting a front lip to keep it simple and since its lowered.

I have a kit and I like it so far. It has been on since march. The only problems I have had out of it are scraping it (and the car isn't even lowered) when we had to trailer it because it broke. That was not a good experience! Other than that, I love my kit. As for it breaking, if you get a high quality kit, then it won't break if you are careful not to run it into things and so forth, just use your head. Cheap kits=breakage. Another thing you will have to worry about with a kit is rocks chipping the paint.

i had a kit, looked awesome for about 3-4 months, then just from rock chips, scrapes, and hairline crack in the fiberglass (which just about every fiberglass bumper will do) it started to look like crap, so i put my stock stuff back on. I would never go back.

I hate extreme type body kits, i like stockish looking ones, kinda like the mugen.

build the car for you and you only. that being said i have a 94 integra (ls) with spoilers etc. ninja kit ( a cheap knockoff of the andys auto sport kit ), enkei sportline shoguns (17) and a 1500 system, dc short ram and obx catback. the car is all show and no go. i wish i took all the money and put in to performance. now im driving a prelude and i have no plans to buy a kit. it is a huge hassle i have had the integra bumper painted twice (replaced before second paint job). the kit will draw alot of attention and if you don't have the performance to back up the look. you will regret it. once again it is all what you want to do with the car.

I'm suprised to see people coming out of the woodworks here and admitting they had or still do like body kits. I must admit, it seems as though the average time of kit looking nice is about 4 months before they start to go to $hit. I'll have to keep that in mind. I just hope I can get an 8x22 i/c under my stock bumper

Kits are nice until you crack it or somethen then to me it sticks out like a sore thumb. Note i have a cracked front end thanks to a curb. But they are nice when they arent cracked i say go with Urethane and somethen that looks clean, nutin crazy IMO.

i would say get the OEM factory prelude lip kit, but its done for and hella expensive, im glad i came up on 1 cuz its CLEAN, simple as that, down the line when ure makin trips and **** in ure lude, u dont want a slammed ride with a AGRESSer bla bla... ricer kit.

so ide say get the wings west RS kit this kit hangs kinda low, but the side skirts and rear of it, are just pimp!!

NOT INVADER KIT MAN!!

if you wnat it so bad then get it... You know they make a tint like clear coating that wraps around the front of your car and is completely invisble.... This film serves the same purpose as a bra, but keeps the rocks form doing too much damage and the paint cleaner.... You just have to understand they are right about the rest, but anything is possible... And some kits add style and flare to your car.... My lude needs a lip at the least... You see, all kits, including OEM experience rock problems, paint problems, etc. Chose which one you want to deal with and take care of it... Then, there is no problem....

key words
there's a few nice kit out there but I rather see a turbo prelude than a stock prelude with it a body kit, but at the end is your money, your car and your choice.

the OEM kit or the wwrs is one of the cleanest kits. but honda already stopped making the oem kits... but if u want i could give you this site that still sells them (very limited in stock and in color)

To JDM or not to be?
That is the question

If you're planning on getting a kit, I would stay away from fiberglass. As everyone else has been saying, they break in a rather short time. I would go for a urethane kit, as they will last longer. Granted, sticking to only urethane kits may limit your options on kits a little. Wings West makes urethane kits (not sure if any other companies do, but you can ask them). It weighs a more than fiberglass, so you'll be adding a little weight to your car, but it's a softer and more flexible material, so it won't crack if you hit a curb, it'll just bend out of the way, and then bend right back to the way it's supposed to be. When you get it painted though, make sure they use a little extra flex additive in the paint, so if you do hit something, the paint won't flake off from being stretched or bent. I bought a fiberglass kit at first, and the whole thing got cracked and broken in less than a year. Since then, I put on a urethane kit which has held up for almost two years now, paint and all. Hope this helps you with your decision.

Oh, yeah, I have to add that I'm happy to hear other people saying "it's your car, so do what you like." Customizing a car should be an expression of oneself, and no one should be trying to tell people what they should like or dislike.

I have a 4th gen and love my WW big mouth. It isn't fiberglass so I don't have to worry about it breaking. I like the way my kit flows with the body.

only in the TECHNICAL Prelude forum are we very tech minded.

I love show cars, but if I want to talk about looks and paint, I go... HERE

if you wanted the invader front get it, all opinions are different and no matter what you get someone wont like it and some will, just get what you want and screw everyone else. with that said, i do not like the invader front unless you have an intercooler, the big hole in the front doesnt do it for me, i prefer the oem kit, greddy front lip or the wings west kit that looks kind of like oem(i think its the rs kit).

if you had to ask, get a body kit

you picked the perfect combination too.. ..

and then post pics when you decide to put all this JDM crap on your car along with your shaved moldings/door handles/ etc since you are from the new gang.
