Weirdest fucking thing ever!!!!!
Alright guys I have a 88'dx with LS-VTEC. I have a small prob with the suspension. I was driving tonite after replacing the front wheels with two more wheels and I was on my way home and decided to haul ***. When the car reached somewhere around 100 mph all of the sudden the steering wheel jerked to the right and the car felt like the lugs were loose. Well then after doing extensive checks on the lugs of all 4 wheels I decided to take the car out again and go get something to eat. Well when I was on the way to eat I got into a race with a 92-95 VTEC prelude (I kicked the **** out of it by the way) but when the car got up to about 60mph the car did the same **** as before except I heard something fall off of the car this time. I pulled over and looked at it and then tried to drive it and It all seems to be fine. Well when I make sharp turns to the right or left now the car seems to have some kind of poping sounding grind like something is rubbing on the rotor. Does anyone have any clues as to what it could be? I am going to be looking at it tommorow but any help would be nice thanks.
it may possibly be a bad wheel bearing....the noise of something grinding on the rotor when you turn sounds like a wheel bearing. Which side is it coming from? Try jacking up the car and grabbing the wheel and try to move it. It shouldn't have any play in it.
Thats what Im thinking. I have a set of integra front brakes to put on the car so I guess this is a good time to do that. LOL. Anyway. I have checked the car for play and it does make a small sound when I try to move it. I do think it is a bad wheel bearing. I was just trying to see if anyone else has had this prob and wanted to know what their car did.
maybe your steering rack is loose,
i had that problem with my old rex after a few autox one day im driving home and the rack came unbolted on one side i nearly flipped my car.

a hub bearing shouldn't cause the car to jerk like that though- i've had to replace all of mine & i never had that symptom. it especially shouldn't do that if the bearing just now started to fail. I would check the steering rack like slowpokesi said........

I agree, when my wheel bearing went bad they mearly made a loud vibration type noise that got louder the faster I went or if I put pressure on the bearing by turning/braking etc. I never also had the jerking problem. I'd check for soemthin else but it wont hurt to replace them. Bout $40 per bearing then you gotta get em pressued into ur hubs.

I would check over the entire suspension, especially the tierods, maybe the castle nut fell off? I know my car kinda pulled and I checked my tierods and both were screwed.
yes- that is a good point- my driver side tie rod is shot & I ended up curbing my rim the other day b/c the road had a divet (sp?) in it & my car pulled towards the curb REAL HARD. check that- it's a cheap fix.
Alright guys just to keepyou up on what the prob was. I found out this morning on my way to work. I spent last night replacing my front brakes with integra front's to try to fix the wheel bearing prob hoping that was it. Any way I was hauling *** once again on the way to work hoping that I had fixed the prob. Well I found out quick that I didnt. The steering wheel once again ripped over to the right, then it really ripped to the right hurting my wrist. I was doing about 100-105mph again. This time on the highway. I was shot across 4 lanes of traffic and almost hit a gaurd rail head on. I managed to stop the car just before I hit it. I pulled off the tire to find that the cv shaft on the passenger side had exploded inside the boot on the hub side. To make this story short Im fine, the cars fine and no one got hurt.
holly sh%& man, i'm glad you're fine...
take it to a shop, some of them do the check ups for about 25$, see what they say.
good luck

agreed. user "limozeen" will tell you about being in a car that hit the median at 110 mph. not preachin about speed, but be careful you aren't the only one on the road.

i had a problem like that exept i was only going 90 ( i wanted to feel vtec) but i let of the gas and then braked just a little bit and bam my car pulled to the left hard i was like holy **** cause i was in the left lane and i thought i was going to end up in the median... but last week i was doing an oil change and i noticed that the cv boot had exploded its grease everywhere! do you all think that is what caused it to jerk like that? ( sorry not trying to hijack your thread)
jeez, i wish i read this earlier, i would have told you it was your cv joints, becasue thats what happened to me. I would jerk really hard one way, over and over again, especially when turning slow. I replaced the axle and no problem, its just the axle in the midst of using the cv joint, then getting stuck real fast, then popping back out.
kinda. cept it was all the way exploded inside the boot. I pulled the end off of the hub side. the boot and all came off with bearings and everything rattling around inside of the boot all broken up.
My opinion on this is for you to just go ahead and replace the whole front hub assembly with that of an integra. It helps your stoping alot. Thats what I did and it feels nice.
