Rough Idle, Reasons?
Bit of a rough idle; thinking it may be valve related. Does this sound right? I did a valve adjustment (myself) about a month ago. Since it was my first time doing a valve adjustment I am thinking maybe I didn't do the greatest job. Maybe didn't tighten the nut ona valve tight enough and it slipped. Good theory or is it maybe something else?
Recheck all the locking nuts and have them torqued to 14 pounds each.
Erratic idle could point to IACV, check for CEL codes.
For ***** and giggles, get some carb cleaner, spray the hell outta the iacv and the throttle body. This actually fixed my idle problems plus got rid of the CEL. It was clogged with a bunch of poop.
Also before yo do that, let the car warm to operating temp, pull the 2p harness off the back of the iacv, if your idle does not fluctiate or stall, replace the valve. If it stalls or flucuates, clean it out and should be all good.
