ECU for H22, other than P13.
i have personally used the p72, p13, and even a p28 with H22 fuel maps. As far as my experience goes the P28 really sucked and i wouldnt recomend that one to anyone with a h22.
I did like the P72 with the vtec x-over at 4500 but it was a little early for my engine, but it did make more power at higher rpms. If i would have had the extra money for hondata i would have stuck with that.
I now have a chipped P13 and i think it is the best over all. It gives me nice low torque and nice powerband. But that is just my opion, if anyone else has different views, i would like to hear them also.

p72 w/hondata s100. it works great! you can get the s100 for under 200, and you can get a p72 for basiclly what you can sell the p13 for, thats what i did.

I would like to know that also.....Last time i check it was going to be $600-700 for hondata + tuning + dyno time...

well..... im using a p28 ecu, running GSR Mugen maps..vtec xover on the ecu is like 4500 or so...my vafc turns it on at 4700...but other than that my P28 is awesome, runs great, and makes power as is evident by my cars 1/4 times and trap speeds..my highest trap is 102.81 at 2900lbs..which is pretty damn good, also my feul correction is only neg 1 percent across the high cam only, and my car doesnt fall on its face..the reason you guys think it dies on the xover for the p72 is very simple, you have to open your secondaries, the GSR ecu wont open them till 6k, so at 4500 when it goes on the high cam, theres not enough air because its not opening your second runners, try running it open, the feel the xover at 4500-4700..much much diferent..peace

I'm also running a p28 but with a skunk2 program, i got it off my friend's ls/vtec. There's a big difference with the p28 compared to the stock p13, I've also tried a p13 programmed with the mugen program, out of the three i think the p28 is better. I'm going to go to the track on may 10, at fontana and im going to time the different ecu's.

i personally wouldnt want a p13...doesnt make as much power in my opinion, i ran a stock p13, spoon p13, stock p72 GSR and p28..w/GSR mugen chip..and the p28 is the best ive used..

the P72 or p28 isnt for the h22....its a GSR ecu, well the p28 is a SOHC civic ecu..but u have to have it chipped, with a GSR program...id recommend a mugen or similar GSR program, so theres no feul issues..peace

Just about any 4 cylinder OBD 1 honda ecu can be configured to control your H22 at one level or another. What makes the difference is the fuel and ignition maps, VTEC switch point, etc. P28's and P72's are the main chipper friendly VTEC capable ecus. P72s are favored as replacements for the P13 because it will also control the IAB (secondary intake butterfly). I used a P28 for long time in my prelude. Tuning was the key. I may have lost some low end without IAB control, but it was completely drivable despite being tuned for top end. P13's work ok as OBD2 -> OBD1 conversions, but there are fewer roms available for them, and hondata doesn't work with them. So basically, I would say that either a P28 or P72 with an appropriate rom or hondata would be your best bet. In fact my hondata P28 is up for sale
Oh, one more thing... You will loose EGR by switching from a P13. This is a plus in my book though. That was the first thing I took off after going to a P28...

you cant use a P72 to control your Secondary runners, the reason is because it wont open them till 6k, which is way too late and you will make no power, mine are always open, my cam gears are tuned for midrange, but actually they pull dam good all the way to 8k, since ive almost trapped 103mph ..and my off the line and 330 mark times show an strong midrange...id would say though to use a Mugen or spoon program if your using the GSR programs simply because they will give you ALOT of feul that you need.....and remeber youll have to run the IABs open even with the P72 because it simply opens them too late...and the BEST manifolds for your h22 are sinlge runner, not a dual so having it open is actually better overall..however a real single design like the skunk2 one or Auro R is the best, get it port matched, ive also heard very good things about having your IM Extrude honed..nice stuff...and BTW the best vtec x-over ive found is 4700, no lag or hesistation, just a smooth pull, and smooth vtec egagement..very linear pull...peace

actually with hondata you can adjust when the IAB's open i have seen as much as 25 lost hp on the low end of a turbo car when using a P28 over a P72
