Installing a aftermarket sway bar - keep stock one installed too?A
I bought an ADDCO 3/4" rear sway bar for my 1987 Honda Prelude si. For now, I am keeping my front sway bar in (it is a real pain to take off). I have a Leda suspension with 400 lb springs in the front and 600 lbs in the rear. Should I keep the original sway bar in or take it out? (I use the car on road racing tracks) Thanks!
Are you asking if you should keep the original front one in?
If so than yes, better to have one in then none.

Good heaven's, you road race and don't know this... sigh, oh well, I guess we all learn this stuff at sometime. It just kinda makes me think of a guy flying a plane and asking what "those pedals on the floor" are for.
If you add one to the rear, yes, leave the front. If you also have a new front one, replace the old front one. If you add just the rear, you're going to have a car with serious oversteer. Don't do that.

Would that make installing an ITR rear sway bar and sticking with my stock GSR front sway bar bad?

No one can tell you if you'll have any problems or not.
I suggest that you:
Install the rear and take it out on the track and drive it hard. If you like the way it reacts, keep it that way. If there is still understeer and you absolutely cant drive on it, take off the front to induce a more neutral handling car.

stock GSR front is same exact bar as stock ITR
and upgrading your rear would then make it exact same front and rear as ITR....so yeah it would be pretty well balanced...
thats the setup i'm running....loving it

I should have specified this more clearly...I will be keeping the stock front bar in. For the rear, I am trying to determine if I should take the orig. one out or use that in addition to the ADDCO bar.
KB58 - you're right. I am definately still learning how to set the car up. I did ask several other people who have been racing for years about this and obtained different opinions on the question. While I have a ways to go in learing how to set the car up, fortunately I am quick on the track and understand the racing business. And yes, a huge portion of that is obtaining sponsorships.
I even called the dealership that I purchsed the bar from. They were not sure either. I went to the ADDCO site. Some of their bars are meant to replace the stock bar and others are meant to be in addition to the stock bar. Unfortunately it doesn't specify for my bar. Figures.
I do appreciate everyones advice and opinions!

No, it only increases the tendency toward oversteer, which is why one is added in the first place. For a ordinary driver that could be a bad thing, but for someone doing autocross it's great. It's all about what you want the car to do.
