Default What are the best tires for a 4th gen?

I'm looking for some tires in advance. I am very uneducated in this area and was wondering if you guys could give me some general information, preferably pros and cons of the Falkens, Yokahamas, Kuhmos, and any other tires that are of good quality. I want to stay within the $300-$400 range when buying them. I'm not looking for a specific type of tire at the moment, but want to be more aware of all my options. If you guys could give me some feedback, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

hey, i'm just like you..just getting into the tire specifics. a few of my friends run a couple different types of tires so i have been able to kind of test drive some of the popular brands. The three ive tested were falken azenis, yokohama avs es100, and khumo 712 supra ecsta. in terms of grip.. the azenis are the best..but my buddy tells me they wear quite readily. if it werent for the azenis, the yokos would be my number one choice. they grip up nearly as well as the azenis and kill them in the wet- the 712's are somewhat comperable too. right now at tire rack they are 77 bux each (the yokohamas) for 205/50/16 (plan to get rota c8's soon) . so.. sorry for the long reply, but just tryin to get you some sticky rubber.
good luck w/ your tire search.

I went for a set of SO-3s because the azenis didn't come in my size. Only thing that is bad about them is the price, as for grip however they out do the competition.

I went to a site (cant remember where it is) that compares the stock tires you have on your car to other aftermarket tires. A 4G LUDE uses 205/55/15 tires.
225/40/16 tires change your SPEEDOMETER reading to only .1%!! So if your worried about your speedometer reading way off thats the tire to go with. That and rim/tires any larger is just a waste IMO (adds weight).

Hey guys, I'm gonna go with the Yokohama AVS ES100, but need to get my wheels first. Thanks for all of the imput! I'm gonna do some BIG searches now. Someone told me today to go to http://www.wheelmax.com. Has anyone ever used this site and how would you rate it?

i was told not to deal with them because of a high degree of shady-ness. no direct experience with them but be cautious. maybe do a search of the best buys section.
